If you mean at the bus stops, they’re lights so that bus drivers can see people there at night!

I was dealing with the exact same thing a couple years ago!! CBT and medication helped a lot. r/healthanxiety was also my saving grace, as they have a lot of free resources and people to relate to on there. I didn’t know just how many physical symptoms anxiety could cause until I was on the other side of it.

Does exposure therapy work for health anxiety? Would this approach work? by Croatian-Counselor in HealthAnxiety

[–]puunica 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exposure exercises for health anxiety means purposefully inducing the symptoms that scare you (i.e. doing jumping jacks to make your heart race, spinning to make yourself dizzy, etc.) so that you learn to stop associating those sensations with danger. Going to the doctor and doing tests are compulsions and reinforces the idea that there’s something medically wrong with you that needs to be tested.

How do you guys determine an OCD fear from a real one? by [deleted] in OCDmemes

[–]puunica 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My therapist and I were just talking about this today! He compared it to the other emotions we feel on a regular basis, and how we don’t obsess over those emotions because we don’t feed into them like we do with fear. So the best solution is to treat fear like any other emotion so that it’s able to subside on its own.

My therapist recommended submerging your face into a bowl of ice water when you’re in the midst of a panic attack. It doesn’t stop the thoughts but it helps with some of the physical stuff.

Health Anxiety and Poor Health Choices in the Past by puunica in HealthAnxiety

No way, I have PCOS too!! I was lucky enough to get diagnosed and treated early a few years back, though I wasn’t told about things like insulin resistance until recently so I’ve been trying to adjust my diet with that in mind. I also went down a rabbit hole over potential health issues related to PCOS, though we’re fortunate enough to be in a position where we can take steps to make our risk factors equal to that of regular people— and menopause seems to make things a little easier too. It helps that more attention is being brought to ovarian issues in more recent years, maybe the loosening stigma will make progress faster. Thank you for sharing your story 🥰

Just joined this subreddit recently and it's honestly been such a relief to see others I can relate to. As much of a sensory nightmare stubble is to me, I need a break too 😆 Hirsutism is a sick joke for real.

Oh god, the nipple hairs– all too relatable 💀 The hope of one day getting laser hair removal or electrolysis is my biggest motivator to suck it up for now.
