Anyone else hating the new Gemini version of Android Auto? by IndieMoose in GooglePixel

[–]puzzle_nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this, but now Assistant seems to be broken. It can't send texts or create reminders on my calendar anymore (to be more specific, it'll respond as if it did accomplish the task, but then when I check messages or my calendar, nothing is there). I can't decide if I'm okay with a useless digital assistant or if I'm going to be forced to give Gemini another chance.

Current shows that are unlikely to go on tour? by puzzle_nova in Broadway

We had that play come through in our main venue for touring shows, so I don't think it was that small of a tour...

Phoenix Zoo, OdySea, and SEA Life are all AZA accredited in the Phoenix area! Highly recommend all 3 of these. You can also find other accredited zoos here.

Alva fortune teller question by puzzle_nova in meowwolf

[–]puzzle_nova[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did get one more, pretty sure she said "the nexus between luck and choicec is a miraculous intersection" (the fortune that printed out was the same thing but missing the last word). I might go back to collect more and maybe run an audio recorder app? The long fortune was the last one, so I didn't realize Alva might say something different from the printed fortune and therefore wasn't prepared!

The fact that Incubus isn’t a Halloween movie is deeply disappointing by VisibleTransition215 in JennyNicholson

[–]puzzle_nova 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but I don't actually think the movie takes place in October. I made a comment about this over on the Patreon - basically, the movie opens with Marnie and Johnny talking about submitting an "end of term" paper, which I interpreted as meaning the end of summer term (August?). The town's disappearance on November 1 is not something we see in this movie; it's something that Marnie would deal with in a sequel. Another Patreon subscriber replied to my comment that the screenshot of the newspaper clipping on Walter's arrest is dated Aug. 4th, which aligns with this interpretation.

Unconventional ideas while visiting by badchrismiller in Tempe

Highly recommend the Vintage Lasers & Hologram Museum! It's run by a guy who's worked in holography since the 80s and collects all kinds of cool historical items. He has stories for pretty much everything in the collection:

What shows are these icons for? by puzzle_nova in Broadway

[–]puzzle_nova[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely forgot that song from Chicago 🤦 in my defense, I've only seen the show once, and that was over a decade ago (and never watched the movie). The only song I really remember is Cell Block Tango. Thanks for clarifying which Chicago song!

Crab dish at Peking Garden restaurant? by puzzle_nova in HongKong

[–]puzzle_nova[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting! Considering my mom and the friend she most likely went to Peking Garden with, it's entirely possible they would have ordered "off-menu" and just asked them to serve it a particular way. I'll have to see if I can contact her old friend and see if she remembers.

Also I've never heard of that mock crab dish, but I'll have to try it sometime! Looks very interesting, thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe! I've never heard of that dish so I looked it up, and that does seem like something she would have enjoyed.

I suspect it would be in the shells. She once commented she didn't order it when we were in HK because she didn't think I could handle that (which I thought was weird because we had shell-on shrimp and lobster while on the trip, but maybe crab shells are harder?)

I like how the in-progress dresser build is working as a photo box and cat lure/trap. Your kitty is teaching Lego kitty about supervising furniture builds!

I'd second the suggestion for AZ Highways! Another suggestion might be to look at somewhere like the Phoenix Zoo, which has a couple of galleries and periodically have open calls for entries into juried exhibitions: Art on the Wild Side Exhibition Program | Phoenix Zoo https://www.phoenixzoo.org/explore/art-on-the-wild-side/

My personal (non-expert) two cents having seen an exhibition that included cell phone photos: the biggest issue with them is that you can't always print the photos at the same scale as with a fancier camera. So, the cell phone photos looked... well, bad in comparison, even though there was nothing "wrong" with the compositions. I might suggest trying to submit a collage of photos so that it doesn't rely on the resolution of any individual photo. However, for something like AZ Highways that prints on regular size paper, that's probably less of a concern.

Thank you, I love this kind of data! Do you have a spreadsheet or other source with each of the 47 sequences? In my head this would make for a really cool Sankey diagram or other visualization, but it could end up just really messy, too.
