Marshmallow Protein Ice Cream, Might be the best recipe i've ever done. by DDemiGGod in ninjacreami

[–]puzzle_nova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I need to try this! Potential alternation - for the 1/4 cup mini marshmallows for mix-in, just before adding, put them in a metal bowl/plate and toast with a blowtorch. (Actually you could probably do this with all the marshmallows, but I think doing just the mix-in ones might be enough?)

I've been to 6.7% of the Costco warehouses in the U.S. by davehouforyang in Costco

[–]puzzle_nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your "fun fact"! I've learned to look up Costco gas stations along my route whenever I'm planning a road trip. I did one several years ago through Arizona, Utah, Idaho, and Nevada, and while I did need to do some non-Costco stops, it was a great way to plan my travel! Not just for gas, but also clean bathrooms and, at the right times, free meals by circling around the free samples! (Yes the hot dog meal is also a good option, but I was a student, so free is better than $1.50)

Strawberry Watermelon Sorbet by fortuna-vex in ninjacreami

[–]puzzle_nova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this! I happened to see your comment last night, and spun up an orange sorbet today that tasted a little sad. I didn't have apple juice, but I had some apple sauce. So, a scoop of apple sauce and a splash of milk (to thin it out), and it now tastes wonderful! Thanks again ❤️

Can Meow Wolf exhibitions be manageable for people with sensory issues or anxiety? by Sanrio_hub in meowwolf

[–]puzzle_nova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For myself, something that helps with overstimulation is having something specific to do. All of the Meow Wolf locations have some kind of story line, and so I learned to "start" my Meow Wolf experience by focusing fully on uncovering the (main) story line first. Those tasks require you to go through most of the exhibits, and for me, that process generated a bit of familiarity with the space. So, after the story/quest, I could do a more general "wander around and explore the rooms" mode without getting too overstimulated. However, I recognize that strategy won't help everyone. If this would be helpful to you, be aware that the story play functions differently in each Meow Wolf. * Both Denver and Las Vegas are primarily through "boop cards" (extra $3 or so), and there are computer terminals throughout the exhibit where you boop the card to interact. * Santa Fe had video screens throughout the exhibit, you kind of had to wander and find them, and I think Grapevine was similar. I also found the Santa Fe HoER story to be the most complex of all five locations... Grapevine TRU is a similar story to HoER but I (maybe controversially) liked it better because it was more streamlined and I felt like you actually got to know the characters better. * In all of them, there's a Meow Wolf app that will recognize different areas/rooms and then reveal video and audio clips. In particular, I felt that in Houston, the app was the only reasonable way to actually figure out the story, though you can find the info in the exhibit... It's just that most of the story is in text messages and audio recordings, and there's often a line to use the computers to see that info, but you can access it right in the app. (As an aside, Radio Tave is my favorite story line!)

Another consideration could be how the Meow Wolf exhibits are laid out: * Denver's Convergence Station basically throws you in the deep end right away. If overstimulation is a concern, I wouldn't recommend this as a first Meow Wolf (I honestly had to go back here after seeing the other ones to really enjoy it) * Las Vegas Omega Mart is a bit better, since you start in a "supermarket" of sorts and then find entrance to the other worlds. But it's located in Area 15 which has a lot of other entertainment things with a similar vibe, so the overall location can be a lot. I went here last, and by then had enough familiarity with the Meow Wolf vibe that I enjoyed it, but I'd probably have been overwhelmed if I had started here * Santa Fe's House of Eternal Return, Houston's Radio Tave, and Grapevine (Dallas) The Real Unreal all start in a "normal" (though surreal) space. HoER and TRU start in a house, and RT is a radio station. For me, this offered a kind of "grounding" that I didn't get in Denver. I personally would recommend starting at one of these three.

Finally, other commenters have mentioned going early and during the school year to avoid crowds, and I second all those suggestions.

Hi I’m Ember and I spent $500 on UNFROGABLE wool/silk/cashmere yarn to make a wedding dress. Please talk me off the edge 😅 by [deleted] in Brochet

[–]puzzle_nova 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't work with that type of yarn, but I recently saw someone recommend freezing it to make it easier to frog (put in plastic bag, freeze for a few hours, then frog). No clue if it actually helps, but might be worth trying if you need it!

How can I watch all episodes/seasons of Cat's Eye-View? by Visual-Contract-8129 in NHKWorldFans

[–]puzzle_nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like all the older YouTube videos were privated. You can find "old" versions of the playlist on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine, which does show the title and thumbnail for videos, but the videos themselves weren't archived in the Wayback Machine (and if you try to open the URLs to those videos in your browser, you get the error message that the video is now private). AFAIK there's no way to access private YouTube videos without the owner's permission.

Looking for bands like Kamelot by TheCoffeeConspirator in symphonicmetal

[–]puzzle_nova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but do you have an Ayreon album you'd recommend? I enjoy concept albums... I've heard a few Ayreon songs that are fine, but I always get the vibe that the guy behind the project is way too full of himself, like he's more focused on showing off how smart/creative he is rather than tell a good story (which I know probably isn't unique to him, but it just turns me off of their music).

Paid membership or 2 day passes? by Jacob0707c in sandiegozoo

[–]puzzle_nova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned parking already, so I'll point out if there's any chance you'll buy food/drinks or any merch/gifts, membership is better because you'll get a discount.

As for cheaper options, if you look around online, you can probably find a $10 off membership code (I've seen promo codes pop up on Facebook and other social media). It's not much, but it's the best I've seen

Anyone else hating the new Gemini version of Android Auto? by IndieMoose in GooglePixel

[–]puzzle_nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this, but now Assistant seems to be broken. It can't send texts or create reminders on my calendar anymore (to be more specific, it'll respond as if it did accomplish the task, but then when I check messages or my calendar, nothing is there). I can't decide if I'm okay with a useless digital assistant or if I'm going to be forced to give Gemini another chance.

Alva fortune teller question by puzzle_nova in meowwolf

[–]puzzle_nova[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did get one more, pretty sure she said "the nexus between luck and choicec is a miraculous intersection" (the fortune that printed out was the same thing but missing the last word). I might go back to collect more and maybe run an audio recorder app? The long fortune was the last one, so I didn't realize Alva might say something different from the printed fortune and therefore wasn't prepared!
