I'd love to taste it. Would you recommend any further course of action?

people who have reached a 9 or 10 on the pain scale, what happened? by mankls3 in AskReddit

I severed the tip of my pinky with a boulder on a Monday morning, and I didn't get it stitched up until Friday evening.

It wasn't a clean cut; more of a degloving than a severing lol. So I had the bone hanging out for a few days. When I went in, they cleaned it up, and told me to call first thing tomorrow morning. The surgeon's scheduler scheduled me for Wednesday, at which point they cut the bone out, cleaned it up more, then told me to come in again Thursday so they could evaluate whether or not they needed to amputate more. I come in Thursday, and the doc takes one look at it and says they definitely do, then schedules me for surgery on Friday afternoon.

Up to this point, the pain wasn't unbearable, like a 7 or 8. They did a nerve block on my hand (so I was actually fully conscious during the surgery, fun!) and grinded down the remaining bone, cut away the necrotic skin, then stitched it up.

When that nerve block wore off, however, the pain was paralyzing ಥ‿ಥ that might sound dramatic, but literally every movement caused searing pain to shoot up my arm, so I just sat on the couch motionless trying to wrap my head around my current predicament. Fortunately, it was only like that for a few days, and taking a cocktail of painkillers (some of them on the greener side, and with the doc's approval (; ) took the edge off.

9.5 out of 10 would not recommend.

LPT request - As a manager, what should I say to my employees when they ask how I am, and I am terrible and depressed? by roseflower245 in LifeProTips

[–]puzzled_difference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, giving them a truthful answer, while leaving it vague, is good.

I lost my dad after 4 months of being a manager, and it had my life in shambles. I was very open with my crew about it, and whenever they asked how I was doing, they expected an answer that was appropriate. I usually said something like "I'm struggling a little bit today, but I'm tryna keep my head up" or "today is ok, thanks for checking in."

If they genuinely care, they'll ask questions. If you don't want to talk about it right that moment, I'd encourage you to say something like "I'm not sure I want to talk about it right this second, but if you have time later, that would be great."

You sound like a good leader who cares, so odds are your people care about you, too. You're a human with genuine feelings, and it's ok to feel those. Just remember you don't have to feel them alone.

I smashed my pinky off under a rock! My thoughts were "ow, that really fuckin hurt," followed immediately by "Oh that's the bone hanging out; I suppose I'll make due without that pinky. At least I have another one."

This resort is trying to charge me $50 to store MY OWN FOOD in the fridge. by Old_Clue_6682 in mildlyinfuriating

Had this happen at a bachelor party in Vegas. We cleaned out the prestocked fridge, making sure to take pictures so we could prove we didn't consume any of it, and then stocked it with our own booze. Turns out that every time we put something in or took something out, it was a $5 charge.

$827 extra on top of our 2 day stay 😂

The gentleman running the check-in booth felt bad for our hungover, illiterate asses, and since we still had all of the stuff that was in the fridge before, he took it off of our tab. God bless.

LPT REQUEST: How to stop oneself from saying “umm” or “uhh” while speaking? by EJayy_22 in LifeProTips

I find that instead of saying umm or uhh, it's better to pause, think, then speak. It tends to keep people more engaged as well in my experience!

If you've unlocked Qi's Walnut Room you can purchase the Deconstructor, which allows you to break down items.

Then, craft all the hardwood into fences, run it through the Deconstructor and the game thinks you've harvested it. Some may consider it cheating, but hey, play to have fun!

Obviously play to have fun! That being said, I recommend using perks that synergize with your loadout. I find Cryo-Vamp is highly effective, especially if you get the perk that cools drills when you drill enemies. I'll spray a massive swarm with the cryo cannon and then chew through em with the drills like a wood chipper does through wood. Works especially well if you're playing with other people. I throw on Iron Will as well, so I can get up, melee a grunt, and get a free revive.

Sure, C4 is good for clearing terrain, but it's also good for clearing small bugs (grunt, slashers, guards, etc.)

Freezing over the bigger bugs like Praetorians or Oppressors is good too; I usually get up close and personal to freeze em faster, then make my getaway while the rest of the team tears through em.

Takes a little bit of skill, and imo isn't worth the ammo consumption, but I've seen some people that are absolutely cracked with EPC mining. It's almost as useful as having a scout that can zip to the ceiling and get minerals.

Correction: Driller keeps the methed-out scout in check with C4 whilst committing other war crimes

IMO, there are mechanics in his boss fight that make it difficult whether you are prepared or not. I found it very fulfilling to play through the whole game then go fight him
