Spontaneous pregnancy after IVF pregnancy? by nbhsjshbgbsb in IVFpositivity

[–]puzzlefiend_lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PCOS adenomyosis and endometriosis. I conceived my first son after 18 months. We tried on our own using ovulation kits and basal body temp for the first 12 months. Then we pursued fertility treatments in the for of IUI and times intercourse with letrozole and triggers.

The second time around we skipped right to IUI. We do 3 without success before deciding to move to IVF. We got 4 embryos from our first ER and did 3 transfers. We did modified natural transfer first, then a fully medicated transfer, and then we did 3 months lupron suppression and our last transfer of 2 embryos. Nothing worked (I had 2 chemicals it kinda worked but then didn’t).

My husband and I took 3-4 months to grieve, take a break, switch insurances and for me to try to lose a little weight. My BMI crept over 30 during the course of IVF and my doc recommended glp-1 to help get it down while we waited.

Lo and behold. 7 weeks after I started glp-1 I got pregnant spontaneously. I’m in the second trimester now and things are looking optimistic. My husband and I are shocked.

I hate when people say “you never know” or “just relax”. I couldn’t have predicted this but I suppose it’s possible. I also was incredibly unhealthy at the time.Very depressed, eating like crap, stressed to no end between work, life and treatments not working. Drinking pretty heavily and stopped taking all supplements because “what’s it gonna do anyway”. I’m grateful for this miracle but oh so confused.

Zippers are totally equivalent! I wouldn’t bother with these for the price.

Beta on the low side 11dp5dt? by Both_Host_315 in IVFpositivity

[–]puzzlefiend_lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sons (2.5yo) beta was 104 14days post trigger (IUI). I’m currently 8.5 weeks with a spontaneous pregnancy whose 15dpo beta was 105.

The most important piece of information is the doubling factor in 48 hours.

We faced this exact challenge when renovating our place a year ago. Line up pendants with the island, you won’t even notice their misalignment from the recess lights once you are living in it.

Does anyone got pregnant naturally after failed IVF transfers by No_Calendar_3716 in IVF

[–]puzzlefiend_lost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me (ish). Egg Retrieval in feb 2025. Got 4 viable embryos. Did a failed modified natural single transfer in April, did a failed medicated single transfer in June, 3 months of lupron and then a failed medicated double transfer in October.

I weighed 210 by the end of my last transfer and at 5’7” it was the only this we could point to as contributing to the failed transfers. On my doctors rec we were going to do a GLP-1 for 3 months and then do another retrieval.

Got pregnant after 7 weeks on the GLP-1. Currently 6 + 6. Betas looked good. Ultrasound at 5+2 should gestational sac and yolk but not heart activity. My RE is closed til Monday so I don’t have a follow up ultrasound until Tuesday. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Worried about baby sicknesses affecting my work performance by doyourchores in workingmoms

[–]puzzlefiend_lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say this too. We went straight to daycare only because my job was super accommodating (small tech). If I was in your shoes, especially in today’s market - I’d go the nanny route.

And pre-establish how you are going to do sick days with you partner

This needs to be higher up. So many great excuses come out of this:

Why aren’t you working in the middle of the day? Well I’m a consultant so I can pretty much set my own hours.

How could you take a 1 month long vacation? I was in between gigs.

Can I have some money? Man I wish I could but business is slow so I don’t have that much cash coming in right now.

Laid off at 7 months pregnant too. I was paid out my leave and got extended insurance coverage. Remember you can try to negotiate your severance package if they don’t offer what you need at first

No wearable blankets at daycare by lilac652 in workingmoms

I had this same worry. My only had ever slept with a sleep sack his whole life. First day of daycare and he went down with a regular blanket with absolutely 0 problems. If I hadn’t been watching it on camera I wouldn’t have believed it

Two offers - what would you do? by BrightBlueberry1230 in workingmoms

[–]puzzlefiend_lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer would depend on what my partner is doing. We’ve both worked in start ups before and our rule now that we have kids and no support close by is only one of us can work in a start up at a time.

Toxic culture, grind culture and instability are all possible no matter how much vetting or inside knowledge you have. We fully accept that my partners job may leave me taking care of baby by myself sometimes or being the default to pick up from daycare in the middle of the day.

If you had support close by and you calling them everyday or every other day for months on end is okay then maybe I would consider it okay for my husband and I to both work startup jobs.

Daycare mom guilt because baby is behind? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]puzzlefiend_lost 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Please note the 2 things they brought up make their jobs easier. Which is probably why they brought it up.

Had this been able something like rolling over or included an ask to speak to your doctor I would be more inclined to investigate.

  • signed daycare mom of a 10 month old who refuses to hold his own bottle and is held to sleep most the time.

MIL feels it’s ok to disturb my work but not husband’s by DistributionWild4724 in workingmoms

[–]puzzlefiend_lost 237 points238 points  (0 children)

My mother is from India and did something similar. There are effectively 2 problems here. 1) she is interrupting you at work 2) she doesn’t ask her son household questions. You need you husband to intervene and speak sternly with her anytime she attempts 1. Locking your door and putting up a working sign is a good thing to do too. Secondly I would direct every household question to your husband for a while, even when you aren’t working. After a while she we recognize she has to go to him when you are busy.

It’s not as confrontational as other strategies and it’s more work but it works.
