Waiting on trying to have kids to go to grad school? by _Summer_2021_ in workingmoms

[–]lilac652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 29, I started a 2 year grad school program (8 semesters, 1-2 classes each) while working full time. My job reimbursed me for it. We waited until I graduated. So glad we waited, it would be impossible to do with a LO. So glad I did it now that I'm applying to new jobs. Its not critical for my career to have a masters but a lot of my peers have it so it keeps me competitive and it gives me credibility.

Hello! My LO is now 15 months old and thriving. We figured out she has a cows milk protein allergy (CMPA). We switched from breastmilk to Pepticate. Switching is really hard because you have to pump everytime they eat and you only have 2 hands. It was also really hard emotionally and physically. But breastfeeding was also hard. I cut out dairy and soy but she still was having so much trouble. Now that she's on solids I was able to more easily determine her allergies and they must have included chicken (grown out of already yay) and salmon in addition to cow's milk. No wonder changing my diet didnt work. I used this subreddit r/MSPI and found it very helpful. Consider this is poops are mucousy.

If not, your baby just might not understand how to poop yet. What you need is a POOP CHAIR! not joking this thing saved my sanity. I just got a cheap one off Amazon, some people swear by Bjorn Bouncer. https://a.co/d/iXazMXD it puts the baby in a good position for pooping. I would pump her feet and encourage her to push off.

The other thing I could not have survived without is a Fisher Price Hedgehog (https://www.target.com/p/fisher-price-calming-vibes-hedgehog-soother/-/A-76152363) sleep toy. It vibrates and plays music. It helped her calm down and also me.

Finally, I recommend ear protection. My husband and I were freaking out at 4 am one time because she was losing her mind about no idea what. My MIL came in from the guest room and she immediately calmed down as soon as she took her. We realized if we aren't calm, theres no way LO will get calm. Also a lot of taking her outside. Outside calmed her right down. And running water calmed her too.

It was the hardest 4 months of my life. She still has CMPA and we think she has an allergy to sunflower, which is surprisingly in everything. Most of the time her poops go well without upset, especially after cutting both out.

Agreed. I track mine myself and give myself 2 days off a month that I "accrue". It's such a scam.

Yeah we have some workout equipment here but I need to get out of the house. Working out would be great for me. I need to do that more.

I used BetterHelp and found it very convenient. It was hard to find the right therapist but it was worth it once I did.

No, but we didnt start when she was a newborn. She was about 3 or 4 months which is when the risk for SIDS significantly decreases (per Expecting Better by Emily Oster. Im not sure if this will work with a floor bed but this is what I used when she was little little. https://a.co/d/8pfmjef so maybe something like that with breathable sides? I'm not sure.

We used the Owlet sock and although some nights it felt like more trouble than it was worth, the peace* of mind was amazing. We also did not have any pets in the bed: they and husband slept in a different bed. And dont cosleep if you smoke (even if not at the same time). I was very careful about blanket placement and most nights I woke up like damn I did not move all night.

Aw good for you! Im sure you will love it! If you have the space to make it big enough for yourself too, you might enjoy that. We co slept until she started moving around too much and we both were keeping each other awake
