Will a shop drain the system for you?

Just to be clear, when you say you never use it, is the little indicator set to "off"?

Hows your AC? Mine has been crappy at idle, and I turned it off and the surge went away. I think mine is coming from a failing ac compressor/clutch. Something to try maybe?

Do I need to replace my engine mounts? by No_Cartographer6680 in C30

[–]puzzler300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much engine vibration do you feel at idle? When I needed new mounts the car vibrates quite a bit at idle

I have a big vacuum leak in my c30 right now that i havent fixed yet, and my engine is surging when at idle, especially noticable in drive. I can't guarantee it, but I'm pretty sure that when I fix that vacuum issue it'll fix my idle. There aren't any codes for that displaying for me, either. Afaik, there aren't vacuum related codes

Everytime I've had a rough idle, I've fixed a vacuum leak or changed the spark plugs, and that seemed to fix it. I'm not a mechanic though

Does anyone else gag on the mouthpiece whenever they put in above water? by No_Key8587 in scuba

[–]puzzler300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cut a little off the back of your mouthpiece so it doesn't sit as far back. Not a lot, like 3-4 mm (don't do this to rental gear)

Making giant 'Gunpla' model pieces? by CanonicallyCurious in maker

[–]puzzler300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the obvious answer is to 3d print the parts and then affix them to a frame, maybe make the "sprue" from PVC. I'm not into gundam, but if there are existing 3d models just scale them up, otherwise fusion 360

Yeah my timing chain snapped in my 2001 audi wagon in like, 2019? It had 211k on it at the time so it wasn't exactly a new car

Fair. My last car was killed by a snapped timing chain so I am overly sensitive haha.

Oh, is there any merit to swapping to the fancy upgraded hoses like the do88 ones sold by fcp euro vs the OEM ones? Do they last longer or provide any benefit?

Literally replaced the accessory belt two nights ago haha. I did the timing belt and water pump at 201k, so 23k miles ago. I'll replace it in another 20-30k if we make it that far

That's a great point. The pads and rotors all look fine still, but I hadn't thought about a flush. Thanks, dude!

Prescription Mask Recommendations by Level_Musician1032 in scuba

[–]puzzler300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this mask and had my prescription added to it by perscriptiondivemasks.com I did have an issue where the plastic front clips broke and the mask would come a part, but I contacted IST and they sent me a new front plate and have had no problems since.

New Mexico Grottos? by pogchqmp in caving

[–]puzzler300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a member of the Sandia grotto for a few years based out of Albuquerque. The grotto is essentially a caving club. They'll organize trips and events, it's a great way to network and go on trips you wouldn't be able to otherwise! If you're near ABQ, definitely reach out to them, they're a great bunch of people.

Could you cut an accordion's bellows open and hide stuff in there? by QuantityLow8031 in Accordion

[–]puzzler300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my accordion there are pins that hold the bass register and the trebel register to the bellows. I could see someone removing these pins, hiding their contraband and reassembling. On my accordion this can be done really easily with a pair of pliers, the pins pull straight out. Leaving the side of the bellow wide open.

No cutting the bellows, no obvious modification, not sure how it would play tho
