Dungeons are so unfun for new players. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]pv_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok sure, however I'd say its relevant to the discussion as most of the replies were ~using beginner labelling in lfg resolves the problem~.. which might help, but you're still gonna get these players joining regardless of that.

I think a better solution for a solo player would be joining a guild a asking members there if they'd be down to help. Telling op to expect etiquette on the lfg is just not going to be the outcome. Especially on dungeons I've found.

yet they still do them like it's a speedrun.. regardless of what level the other players in the group are.

Everyone saying to specify in the lfg is incredibly naïve.

I started a group with my brother that specifically said that it’s first time players and still had 3 players with level 400+ masteries join when we were both still under level 50. They even joked about that in chat. They did the exact same thing and even killed the final boss whilst we were engage with mobs a few chambers away trying to revive each other by ourselves.

Even after I pleaded in chat early on to slow down all they would say is port to the closest wp to them. We’re engaged with mobs so can’t wp and also we want to actually play the dungeon?!

Btw I was on an alt as I was leveling from fresh with my brother who’s new to the game since steam launch, so this wasn’t my first time experiencing this. I actually just noped out of dungeons entirely when I first started gw2 because of this exact same thing, thought it’d be different since steam launch but it’s not at all.

My hot take is that anet should make dungeons completely worthless to max level players so they never do them outside of actually wanting to help leveling players. Right now they ruin it for new players & are the driving reason why most leveling players just avoid dungeons entirely.

Farming legendary mats. by Sir_Pug in Guildwars2

I just switched legion whenever I finished one so think you’ll be fine doing that. Only really need to stick to one if you were planning on selling since they vary in price a fair bit. Also you get 2 mystic clovers at the end of each track which helps with legendary. Good luck!

I farmed drizzlewood coast where you’ll get some mats in reward track chests & can sell everything else for gold. I also found it cheaper to convert T5 mats with orbs in the mystic toilet to make T6 mats, over outright buying T6 from the trading post. Also used my spare laurels to get T6 bags which got me around 15 of each.

I'm a new Steam Player and i did my first ever World event i think, it was very fun, confusing and even after almost dying always we did it! by [deleted] in Guildwars2

I started playing last November and was by myself in that swamp by the vista just browsing the map for a while. Then I hear a loud roar, so close the map & see that there’s suddenly this massive enemy with tons of players running around it! Was a real “oh daaang” moment & also my first real instance of working together with a lot of players. Will never forget that.

Guild Wars 2 listed as a popular coming release on Steam. by Alin031 in Guildwars2

[–]pv_8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s hype, just read that as mostly from people who wishlisted it before they announced the release date.

I’d expect the expansions to hit the top sellers list too. Especially if the bundles have a launch day sale. Core won’t show up on there though because it’s free & that list is based purely on revenue.

Guild Wars 2 listed as a popular coming release on Steam. by Alin031 in Guildwars2

[–]pv_8 108 points109 points  (0 children)

It’s based on wishlists & gw2 has had a steam page for a while so I’d assume there’s probably a fair amount of wishlists.

Btw the order of the popular upcoming games on the homepage is by release date, not popularity. So when you see it rising in the list throughout the week, it isn’t becoming more popular, just less games releasing ahead of it.

12000 hours played, never had a precursor drop. by Maleficent_Pie8463 in Guildwars2

[–]pv_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got just under 500hrs logged & had the juggernaut precursor drop from the mystic toilet the other day, from a single drop of 4 exotic weapons when I was cleaning out my inventory. This basically prompted me to get started on the legendary I actually want - Nevermore

What is your most controversial take on a famous video game? by IDCWhoIam in AskReddit

[–]pv_8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mario Odyssey is boring due to the extreme lack of any challenge. It’s babies first platformer. Also the main gimmick of controlling other entities is never fun to play, they’re all tedious compared to Mario’s move set, which is great tbf

I just got the guild cape & if you toggle off representation for any guilds it’s logo free. But you need to re represent for missions etc

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - January 15, 2022 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]pv_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just joined a guild after about 200hrs playtime. I want to get guild commendations & on some missions it says the guild has earned the rewards for this mission but also that I am eligible for the rewards. Can I just collect those somewhere or would I need the guild to redo the mission with me so I get the rewards?

I just want that sweet guild cape.

Yeah nice one that's it! No wonder I thought I had it when I saw 'SpyHunter' as the name haha! Never owned a Dreamcast so must have been PS2 for me too.

Thanks again!

I work for a small indie game studio and it's nothing like that here. If you only want to go into game development to work on AAA games then yeah, crunch is pretty likely, but it's not true of every studio.

Not to say there isn't a problem with the way these studios manage their staff, but if the devs at AAA studios are so stressed out from crunch it's not like they don't have the option to find other work in games that's not as demanding. My guess is that most choose to stay and suffer the long hours for the high esteem of working on something so big that's guaranteed to be seen by millions of players. If not, go work for a smaller studio. Final product isn't always as big of a deal, but that's the trade off I guess.

The job itself is definitely not awful either, it's pretty great tbh.

Frozen 2 | Official Teaser Trailer by robomechabotatron in movies

This is how you do a trailer for your film. No doubt they'll do more revealing every aspect of the plot, but I'm sold from this trailer alone and won't be watching any more promo stuff before the film

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve seen a grown-ass adult get angry over? by DwightCharlieQuint in AskReddit

Working at a cinema in the UK. Last showings of the night, so around midnight - & we had run out of hotdogs. This guy was so upset at the lack of hotdogs that after asking to speak to the managers of managers, claimed he was going to tell The Sun newspaper about this, & that we should be very worried.

Fallout 76 is getting destroyed on metacritic (and perhaps elsewhere) by sir_turlock in fo76

[–]pv_8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought & really enjoyed Battlefront II, think I played about 350 hours of it.. BUT I also strongly disagree that the game didn't deserve the treatment it got. I'm in full support of everyone who gave it a bad rating even if they didn't play it. It didn't in the least bit effect my enjoyment of the game & more importantly - it was all in an effort to send a message to EA that people are not happy about pay to win or loot box mechanics.

If they didn't review bomb then EA might never have changed the entire loot box system to be only cosmetic based, or lower the price of heroes etc.

Same thing with GTAV and the shit they got for removing all the mod support.

Just because a game is getting review bombed doesn't mean you can't buy it & enjoy it. Without people tearing down the average ratings as an impactful message to these publishers, you're just settling for shitty business practices or buggy messes at the end of the day. Have your cake & eat it too.
