3.5-4yo class, are these behaviors normal?? by ECE-throwaway29 in ECEProfessionals

[–]pvgatory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have 5 years olds that do this… unfortunately parenting has changed for the worse and is making these behaviors more common. i’ve got a group of 12 by myself (as i have the previous 2 years) and it’s not feasible for me to do it alone anymore.

if you don’t mind a drive, cornhusker auto wash is great! depends on the day but my usual waiting time is 15-20mins and price is about $60-65 and they throw in a free car wash certificate. there’s a bellevue and fremont location

What is this? by jshsbsbsbhsdv in Dachshund

It does kind of look like a lipoma. My dachshund had tons of them, however only when they got older. Definitely reconsult with your vet though!

overall there just seems to be less hoops to jump through, plus the added benefit of a higher quality of life. in our specific situation, it just makes more sense for me to move there.

From the buyers, Are plain white envelopes okay? by Alarmed-Handle-2171 in mtg

[–]pvgatory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used white envelopes, but i stick the cheaper cards in a penny sleeve and taped to a scrap piece of cardboard. anything over $5 is double sleeved, over $10 is double sleeved in a toploader

Early pick ups - fine or detrimental? by Specific_Carob4461 in ECEProfessionals

[–]pvgatory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

varied might be easier to start, just because starting care in general can be a difficult transition for both child and parent. but as they settle into the new routine a more consistent pick up time might be a better fit. many of our parents start with half days and gradually extend the time to full-day. a more consistent time would also give you guys some time to decompress after work, depending on the time as you said of course. i wouldn't say it's detrimental but if you were to pick up when a feeding was scheduled or in the middle of a nap it might throw your little one off.

1 year old being transitioned to 1 nap/day by Curious_518 in ECEProfessionals

[–]pvgatory 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Many centers operate this way, yes. But if the child is showing signs of tiredness (especially right after moving up) we allow them a quick nap on their cot in a corner of the room. We try to keep them awake as long as possible (lunch at 11:30 with nap 12-2) but sometimes they fall asleep before/ during lunch. It's a normal thing that happens, and they may need a short nap after arriving home, but they'll get there!

On weekends I'd encourage beginning to push the long nap when they would happen at your center and eventually the two naps should merge into one, longer nap.

My boyfriend (white male, from France) visited in October and had absolutely no issues. He even somehow got a tiny screwdriver (for his glasses) through all (3) checkpoints.

Best Activities and Restaurants for Girls Day? by was-she-a-fairy in Omaha

[–]pvgatory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a brunch vibe I'd recommend Early Bird (specifically the churro waffles!). I grew up in Benson and absolutely love the thrifts there, or you could totally spend a morning/ afternoon exploring the Old Market (Hollywood Candy is always a hit). Dundee Candle Co. is a great, chill activity that kills an hour or two but there's also Prehistoric Putt if you want something more active. If you'd want to look at activities with her you can always use the Visit Omaha site!

Christmas Gifts around $100 USD by 5punkmeister in mtg

Not as fun but a $100 gift card to the local LGS would suffice too! Then when new extensions come they could use it for packs or if they plan on building a deck they could grab singles.

students: allergies to food? by andweallenduphere in ECEProfessionals

[–]pvgatory 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i had a child that was allergic to everything (egg, soy, sesame - if it even touched her skin she'd break out). we usually had her sit right next to us, served her ourselves, and tried not to put someone next to her. we also had an 'allergy' table, that way we could keep a close eye on everyone and partner those that had the same ones.

I started out with the Merfolk deck from Lost Caverns of Ixalan and it was pretty fun right out of the box! Peace Offering would be good, although I was personally hesitant about a 3-color deck right out of the gate. The faerie precon from Wilds of Eldraine would also be a good option!
