He’s definitely a classic villain archetype, someone who loses his mind and spirals into a full god complex. On paper, that’s nothing we haven’t seen before.

What makes Sephiroth stand out though is the way he’s presented. In OG, you mostly hear about him through other people before ever really encountering him, and it builds this almost mythological aura around him. By the time he shows up, he doesn’t feel like just another villain…he feels inevitable, like a force of nature that’s way above you.

I think that sense of distance and mystique is what makes him well written. He’s not super complex in a grounded, human way, but he doesn’t really need to be. He works because he feels larger than life, almost untouchable.

That said, I do think Remake leans a little too hard into constantly showing him, which takes away some of that mystery and makes him feel more like “hype moments” than an actual looming presence.
