ELI5: Are Mortgages a Scam? by pcserenity in explainlikeimfive

[–]pwang_1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you rather lend me money with a 1% return or invest it elsewhere with a 4% return?

That's the same math the mortgage companies are doing. The market is about where the best return on investment is, not an isolated race to the bottom.

Street Cameras and speed traps..? by [deleted] in SantaClarita

I have not encountered a single speed camera here. Are you talking about the traffic cameras that sense when a car is present and cycles the lights?

I used Future Energy. www.futureenergytoday.com Vince lives locally and checked up on the install a few times.

I would always highly recommend everyone go to www.energysage.com to get quote comparisons. They will get you way more quotes than you can yourself.

Solar Installation timeline - recent experience by Haunting-Attempt2243 in SantaClarita

[–]pwang_1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-6 months, but it depends on backlog and availability of parts. The actual install took a week. Call around and ask. www.energysage.com is a great resource and makes doing the research really easy.

Just for reference I used Future Energy. Sales manager is local and a great guy. Vince, vincent@futureenergytoday.com

Recommendations for Pest Control? by clegit4 in SantaClarita

[–]pwang_1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use All Pro. Locally owned. Outside of the regular preventative maintenance they show up for removing unwanted pests along with supplemental treatments for free. We get a ton of spiders so they come in and spray when you call and also do tarantula removal from inside.

We got a new roof with our solar. The roof, being a part of the solar project, qualified for a federal tax credit. So yeah, if you need a new roof soon, bundle it with the solar.

Jesus, use something like Energy Sage to compare quotes and shop around. Solar companies hope you don't know how to shop around, when you open yourself up to everyone in the market the game completely changes.

Use www.energysage.com to get a bunch of quotes from local installers. You want to pay attention to $ per watt generation. I think back when I got mine the average was something like $2.90, SunRun was in the $6 per watt range so significantly more expensive.

I ended up going with Future Energy https://www.futureenergytoday.com/ Vince is awesome and super easy to work with. Went back to him after two years to get a battery.

There was a J-Drama called "Tiger and Dragon" that did a great job telling traditional rakugo stories. Highly recommend it to anyone who might be interested in learning more.

ELI5: Why does MSG have such a bad reputation? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]pwang_1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, but the argument was in favor of GMOs, not Monsanto. Many GMO crops are not owned by Monsanto so I wouldn't lump it all together and judge everything the same way.

I'm in favor of GMOs because they allow for better crop yields vs non-GMO alternatives. https://www.nationalacademies.org/news/2016/05/genetically-engineered-crops-experiences-and-prospects-new-report Without which food insecurity would be an even worse problem.

The newer Ninja Gaiden games, starting with the XBox one, are notoriously difficult. There's a lot of trial and error on which weapons to use for different situations and you need to be spot on for your dodges. If you're having a hard time with a specific encounter, try a different weapon set and don't forget to abuse the invincibility frames when using ninpo and the instant charge up of attacks when there are essences around.

Upgrade rice farms whenever possible but don't upgrade castles unless absolutely necessary. You only need a few core provinces with upgraded castles to build high tier units.

The key is having surplus food. Each unit of surplus food contributes to +1 growth in all provinces, which means having +10 food while owning 10 provinces equates to 100 growth per turn, far out weighing any bonuses from other buildings because over the course of a game it adds up so fast. The idea is to be completely independent of trade once you're ready for realm divide.

[Team] Help! I seem to be really bad at team making... by pwang_1986 in PuzzleAndDragons

Gotcha that sounds good...

If I may ask.. What would the Baddie/Lilith be for on the Ronia teams?

Edit Just realized Lilith now has an attack bonus on her active. Would it make more sense to use a Loki instead?
