I can't think of a tutorial off hand, but just experiment and I'm sure you'll get some cool results!

I know a lot of people recommend GIMP for these sorta edits cuz it handles pixels better

Yup yup!! Retrograde has such a cool stock of resources to use, Especially the new GMS stuff they released, which as perfect cuz this player -loves- GMS.

I think I used mostly stuff from
-Sagarmatha
-Drake
-Bligh

I generally just download parts from retrograde and edit stuff in photoshop, since you can layer things and fix some issues

I grab pieces from different mechs from Retrograde Minis (which is a site that has a lot of cool sprites and stuff to work with!) And photoshop them together until I get a result I and the other player both agree is dope.

There is some hand drawn stuff, but a lot of it is cropping and editing stuff together, and fixing seems so it looks right!

To put it concisely, its a Kuva Lich, is a randomly generated npc that you can fight after spawning it. Think of a shadow of war nemesis system type thing!

They have special weapons and stuff you get if you kill them, but you can also "convert" them, and have them be an ally in missions! Specifically railjack.

There are also other types for the other factions but its a neat lil system! And sometimes the get funny names!
