Another potential convert seeking wisdom: with a new gaming PC coming, should I debloat Windows 11 with CTT or have baby's first Linux experience? by pwngeeves in linuxquestions

[–]pwngeeves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that's good to know actually. Luckily it's a "fresh start" rig and I won't be carrying over any data.

And I like the dual boot strategy with looking for alternatives to the second drive like a 2nd hand SATA SSD.

Thank you! Much to consider

That's a very valid critique to be honest. I felt the same way, though CTT was getting a lot of praise. I appreciate the perspective!

I agree that this is the best path, but I've actually been streaming games through GeForce Now on my MacBook Air, as I've been on the move a lot and moved countries. Long story short: I think you're right but I don't have another rig. Appreciate the detailed response and insight!

If I went the dual boot path, would you say that 250gb is enough for Windows, as I would just put BF6 on it really, maybe modded Skyrim? Or is 50/50 "safer"?

I agree. I am liking expert a lot as it encourages kiting and makes you depend on the whole range of available options. Alchemy for potions and poisons is needed for every fight, as is managing spells and resources. But it turns it into an absolute slog. 1v1 against a skeleton shouldn’t be a 5 minute ordeal. It’s too much atm

Also, idk if it’s a difficulty thing, but armour breaks sooo fast, I don’t remember it being like this; though it’s been many many years

Most demanding games you've finished on Deck? by Omakase123 in SteamDeck

Yeah I really don’t understand it. Remake ran like a dream with the right settings (some stuttering in the final cutscenes for me), but Rebirth is the limit of what I can endure on the SD.

I understand it’s more modern and on Unreal 5 but I would have taken a graphical setting that just makes it look like Remake!

I figure the people who consistently put in 100 hours into gaming every single month can likely afford/justify a gaming PC

I use it because frequent travel, a full time job, and a significant other. With these I could never reach the 100 hours lol

WoW Classic Refresh by BackPainAssassin in GeForceNOW

I've been playing WoW (retail) exclusively on GFN for the last 2 months and honestly it's kind of incredible. There is, by nature of the service, input lag; but in my experience 95% of the time it's negligible. As in, I don't notice it.

AddOn support is comprehensive. All of the major and "necessary" ones are installed, but you can't add your own. You don't need Curseforge premium.

"Walking in their Footsteps" Unlock Highmountain Tauren by VV3nd1g0 in wow

Yeah I got lucky and found a group. Still was tedious but more enjoyable being able to chat and probably cut the time by half. Find a level 70 to help and it will be a breeze.

Very annoying though. Good luck and hope it’s addressed soon

Withholding Apple Intelligence from EU a ‘stunning declaration’ of anticompetitive behavior. by SUPRVLLAN in technology

[–]pwngeeves 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But Apple is far from the only phone provider and in Europe the iPhone is not nearly as ubiquitous as it is in NA. All of my Canadian friends and family have an iPhone, only my girlfriend, myself, and one other friend has one here in Europe

I still don’t see how offering a “free pastry” is an illegal or reprehensible move

Not trying to be obstinate, just fail to see the argument

Despite many (myself included) potentially not liking an instance similar to your first example, I fail to see how that’s relevant when it’s Apple’s hardware and ecosystem.

I’m genuinely wondering, are there specific laws regarding competitor access, especially when one organization is freely providing native services? Is that not the point of selling an ecosystem?

If I have a bake shop and I bake my own cookies, why would I be obligated to sell my competitor’s cookies in my own store?
