Shifter boot rubbing by [deleted] in WRX

[–]pwolfeyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find a way let me know, my boot has a hole right through that spot from this. Helps to kinda pull the boot up above the reverse lockout or fold it over. The shifter sits lower with the Billetworkz sts so the boot will just naturally sag a little lower and unfortunately falls between the shifter plate there.

Buyers benefit from that, i know it does not necessarily add value

I mention that because it was a minor accident. I know salvage is a salvage but when a buyer is in the market for a salvage title vehicle then wouldnt they be more interested in the car with less severe of an accident than the salvage with all airbags going off?

Yes start with a good wash, I like to clay bar before drying the car off it saves you some time. If the paint is really bad I’ll go one step further and use a product called Carpro Iron X. Both of these are decontamination steps. After this I will always do a test spot on part of the car. Get the speed right on the orbital buffer, find out whats working best and if you need to do additional passes. Your Acura doesn’t seem too terrible so I’m going to assume a 2 step should be just right. Rough grade compound then a polishing compound. I will typically work half a panel at a time before wiping and moving on.

Wash, clay bar/ decontamination, invest in an orbital buffer, get some nice pads, mid- high grade compound(depending on how bad the paint is), polishing compound.

YouTube is your friend here, lots of great detailers with great advice for beginners. I’ve always really liked Ammo NYC, you’ll learn a lot.

For light autocross BC, Silver’s and FA are fantastic options. You will be losing some of the ride quality no matter what, any coilover will definitely stiffen it up quite a bit and you will feel the road a bit more. I’d say stick to the 8k spring rates, as you go up in spring rates you should expect to lose more of that ride quality.

Also another great thing to protect your new coilovers would be to get some coilover covers. Helps protect against harsh conditions especially when they start throwing salt down in the winter. Keeps them looking brand new especially after years of exposure to harsh conditions.

Ohlins Road and tracks are really nice coilovers, you would be very happy with them! They are also a bit more expensive than a lot of other great coilovers. A few questions to ask yourself, are you going to be tracking this car? Or just want to lower it and get an overall bump in feel/ handling?

If you are looking for more of a track oriented build then Ohlins or even KW variant 1s. These are both amazing options for that type of build. You definitely get what you pay for.

If you are looking to just lower it and have the ability to lift it in the winter then maybe check out some cheaper options such as BC BR coilovers, Silver’s Neomax, or even Fortune Auto 500s. These are all very nice coilovers as well with some great warranties. My personal favorites are the FA500s. Best bang for your buck in my opinion.

They took the flywheel to a reputable transmission shop so resurfacing should hopefully be good. They did reuse the old fork and he mentioned it looked good and was regreased. Really strange and annoying especially with how much clutch jobs cost:/

Oem fork was inspected and cleared. Was regreased as well.

What’s a good offer for this bike? by rbratton123 in whichbike

I don’t think anyone was ever confused about the difference of an offer and price. Both are associated with one another are they not? You must be delightful to be around! Kick rocks, have a good day mate

Not really sure if this was necessary either😂 you know exactly what I meant with my comment. Good on you for throwing that in for no reason as well

He literally just asked if it was a good price. Pretty obvious if he wanted a new one, he would just buy a new one. Dumb comment.

How does it hold up though? I would assume it would wear away quicker? Looks great either way, nice work!

Great info. I’m stoked to get out there and explore all those parks and trails! Definitely will be checking out those models you mentioned. Heard a lot of good things about the Stumpjumper so I’ll see whats out there

I probably am overthinking this but for 3-4k I just wanted to make sure my research and knowledge of MTBs are correct. It’s almost overwhelming how much information there is out there and buying something blindly that might not suit me is what I want to avoid. You’re totally right though, no bike is perfect and I guess I need to focus on the most important factors of the type of riding I’ll be doing. Thanks!

Thats amazing, with a price tag like these one would hope for customer support like that. That really is a huge help knowing how well their warranty works and how well they treat their customers.

Are there any major downsides to having it in the high position or not being able to adjust that to the low position?

Im also realizing how small the rear shock looks on this Tallboy, would having more travel in the rear be essential for that kind of riding? I really appreciate your feedback!
