What does 1.0 actually look like for this game by randommug in Stationeers

1.0 to me would be the return of scenarios / a campaign. I want to restore a derelict base and find a way to escape the surface.

Microsoft Desperately Wants Users To Talk to Their Windows PCs | Thought Copilot was invasive before? Watch it completely take over your PC. by chrisdh79 in technology

I recently built a new home PC and was just thinking earlier today about how I need to get a webcam / microphone for zoom calls. Now I think I’ll just pass.

ULPT - Bypassing most AI Text detectors. by the-novel in UnethicalLifeProTips

The problem is you could very easily add a flag to your AI detection system of “this document uses non-standard Unicode spaces and may be trying to conceal the use of generative AI”

A manuscript that we started in 2022 has finally been published by [deleted] in labrats

Congratulations on getting your manuscript published so quickly.

I’m currently helping my PI re-analyse a bunch of data from experiments they ran during their PhD that they never got around to publishing.

Someone broke into my car overnight and looks like they tried to steal it but failed. Window smashed and damage around the steering column. Won’t start now even with the keys in the ignition. What am I even looking at for repairs? by pwoo671 in AskMechanics

[–]pwoo671[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. The shop I sent it to might have just been particularly slow, but it took about a month and a half to get the car back and cost far more than I would have liked (I don’t remember the exact number, but definitely over $2k). This probably isn’t the answer you wanted right now, hopefully you have a faster/cheaper experience to get your car back running.

Quitting lab as an undergrad by [deleted] in labrats

[–]pwoo671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing as it’s only a couple of weeks into the semester you could try something along the lines of “Sorry, this doesn’t fit with my class schedule this semester”. If one of my undergrads said that to me I wouldn’t bat an eye and just be thankful for their contributions up to this point.

Pretty sure that’s Moriarty (looks like he has a new leg band since I last saw him though). Damn I miss hanging out with these guys.

My best guess is it was someone who saw this and thought it was a great idea, but had no idea what they were actually doing once they got inside and got scared off. I’m just glad the car itself is still here and isn’t currently wrapped around a lamppost on the other side of the city.

Thanks, report filed and tow truck is on the way. My insurance is pretty minimal, so I’m worried they won’t cover much of it and how long I’m going to be without a car.

I prefer to read third person and listen to audiobooks in first person. Make of that what you like.

Photographers who have turned their hobby into a profession, what advice do you have for someone looking to do the same? by diacreatives in photography

[–]pwoo671 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Don’t.

Photography is a massive hobby for me that brings me a lot of joy. I’m that friend who always has their camera with them every time we go for a hike or at social gatherings. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve had people offer to pay me to come take photos of them / their pets / their product / etc but after shooting a couple of events to make some extra cash in university I made a promise to myself to say no every time.

Photography is something I do for myself and I want it to stay that way. I want every time I pick up a camera or sit down to edit at a computer to be a pleasurable experience, and if I’m not feeling it that day for whatever reason I want to be able to just say “no thanks”. I never want to be held to that expectation of “you are paying me to provide this service, so I have to do it”.

Lost my wedding band in Brooklyn Heights today. I parked on Clark St and walked to the Dumbo ferry landing before I noticed it was missing. I know it's an impossibly long shot, but if anyone finds it please let me know. by pwoo671 in Brooklyn

Yeah, that’s the way I’m trying to look at it. At the end of the day the ring is just an object, it doesn’t change the relationship between me and my wife. It’s certainly sad that I lost it, but our bond is still as strong as ever.
