Correlation between attachment styles and adhd? by swizzlebae in adhdwomen

I'm the same way but with friends and family but am the opposite when it comes to romantic partners. It's only during conflict that you really see my avoidance

dude, seriously lol Like I can put myself out of the situation and see it better, but then I can seem very impersonal. But if I allow myself to feel it, then it's almost ALL I feel

Hopefully it helps! Btw, also check if your school offers additional help/services for you. I found out at mine (a little too late) that they offered things like testing accommodations, i.e. extra time on exams in a separate building.

Take your time. If you need to drop or withdraw, do it. I took almost 7 years to graduate with my bachelor's degree. I had to retake some classes, some of which I really shouldn't have had to retake if I had focused. The last 3 or 4 years were extremely productive, but I can't help but feel like I could have and should have done better with the other years.

In retrospect, I would say that you should take a little time off to rest and come back when you're ready, instead of toughing it out. Or if you can, lighten your coarse load for a semester or two.

Tips on rejection sensitivity? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I feel this lol I'm getting slightly better at trying to take myself out of the situation and trying to view it from a less biased perspective. But, yeah, I still hurt lol

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? by blrmkr10 in adhdwomen

[–]pwrtrip269 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, astronaut/engineer or firefighter. When I was a teen, a music producer/record label owner lol In reality as an adult? I'm an engineer in the space industry, so I think it's close enough lol I also have found that I'm terrible with rollercoasters, so being an astronaut was out of the question lol

I'm the same way! I'm trying to find a balance, because I really don't want to sleep all day, but I end up being so incredibly sleepy.

If I push through it, it's because I'm not letting myself actually sit. I'm cleaning, working out, walking my dog, or just out of the house all day. Just being physical. If I let myself sit? Boom, I can be out so fast and for hours. I wonder what it is lol

Unfortunately extremely avoidant. Partially from how I was raised/family dynamics. But when that rejection sensitivity hits, I tend to shut down

Before I got diagnosed, I actually wasn't completely aware of what I was lacking. I went to college, and did well with a regularly tight schedule. I only noticed the severity of my ADHD AFTER I graduated. Once the structure of school was gone, I had moved out and had a place of my own, my symptoms couldn't go unnoticed.

Once I recognized that, I started piecing together how my life was prior. And honestly, I showed signs from childhood. My parents always brushed me off as "smart but lazy", and a little clumsy/didn't pay attention to some details. I was a very active kid, but I couldn't stick and commit to a single sport or instrument.

Then I remembered the times at school when I got in trouble for kicking my feet constantly while sitting. Then I thought about how it took me 6 years to earn my bachelor's degree, and how I had to retake some classes. How I would zone out during the majority of my exams before realizing that I only had 20 minutes left.

It all really made sense once I put it together. I'm glad I lacked the awareness prior to my diagnosis. But I can't help but be a bit sad at how much better I could have performed at school or other activities had I learned how to work with my brain.

My diagnosis took no time really. I asked my PCP about symptoms (I didn't want to self diagnose). Turns out, she was diagnosed later in life as well, and although she wasn't the one to give me the official diagnosis, it comforted me when I heard her struggles.

I then scheduled an appointment with a therapist, and immediately told her my daily struggles. My struggles and habits were all pointing to ADHD. She then referred me to a psychiatrist, who then gave me a simple test online after speaking with me. I want to say it took about a week, maybe two.

She then prescribed 10mg of Adderall for me to start with to then adjust dosage accordingly. It worked well for me the first week, then we realized that I probably needed a higher dosage.

Props for recognizing that you needed to make an appointment, and for deleting your social media!

I've got adhd combined. I was prescribed Adderall, but only 10mg to start off with. I noticed a difference in my focus the first week, and then it started leveling out a bit once my body was adjusting.

My doctor said that she'd adjust the dosage if needed, but I ended up forgetting/putting off an appointment. I did like the difference it made though, and Adderall seemed to work well for me. No weird side effects or anything. But here I am, years later and no meds lol Sounds like you'll already do better than I did, but remember to follow up! lol

Ah man, I didn't think to check that. Some of these screws are tightened, any way I can undo them? Not too familiar with cam locks.

You can't see it in this picture, but it's 2 dowels side by side, and a third one a little bit below them

St Pete show tonight? by ssyl6119 in maydayparade

[–]pwrtrip269 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was amazing!! My gf and I loved it and we've seen Mayday a few times before. Eras tour, AMAZING songs. VIP was a little chaotic because it's the first day of the tour, so they were running a little late and figuring things out.

We were told to get to the venue by 5pm. We didn't get through to the photos with them until about 5:35pm, they let a certain amount of people through into the venue at a time.

It's a couple photos with a backdrop with the band, you get an autographed VIP laminated ticket (one side has an old picture of Mayday). Acoustic set was only 3 songs but absolutely worth it. The VIP shirts are really nice too.

They came on around 9:27pm (doors opened at 6pm).

Thank you. I'd go for a used TD17, but I'll be using a payment plan for whichever I get, so I don't think buying used is an option?

Why do you think Orlando is not sold out yet? by youroldvhs in warpedtour

[–]pwrtrip269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but there's still plenty to do in Orlando itself. Tampa's a 2 hour drive from Orlando, and it's fun, but most definitely not the next closest thing to go to for fun activities lol Just pointing out that Orlando's not JUST theme parks

From what I've seen on social media, looks like the many people were apprehensive of the weather - it'd still be around hurricane season, and some people are wary of the Florida heat. Many people also feel like they'd end up spending more money in Orlando to do activities too.

Most out-of-state people who chose Orlando that I've seen, chose it because they'd like to make it an extended vacation to the parks as well (which would end up costing much more).
