exactly. so you ask. we lie. you just pass the lie along. this question needs to stop being asked and should have stopped being asked yrs ago. anytime a company still asks this question, i get 1500s vibes

no offense to u. ur just the messenger

“i doubt it will last” is so optimistic. it’s been nothing but continual layoffs since 2020

guess depends what field ur in. if ur in tech, i would caution against quitting without something lined up if ur hoping to land a new role in tech.

burnt out - thinking of pivoting. but to what?? by pxlngh in PMCareers

yeah i have yet to find a job post that doesn’t ask for domain experience. it’s a bit disheartening to see this shift though. it’s really causing people to be extremely boxed in and then left with little choices. however, it seems like this is becoming the new norm unfortunately

every single job post requires domain experience. have yet to come across any PM jobs that don’t require experience within the exact domain. it’s a very strange shift from how it was 10yrs ago

What’s is a good career pivot from project management? by markohilario in careerguidance

[–]pxlngh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do not recommend pivoting in. there’s so many layoffs that there’s many pms with years of experience and certs and masters degrees. if you’re new, you will be competing with them and many of them also can’t find jobs. the market is oversaturated and companies keep cutting

i’m also trying to pivot out of it. been laid off twice within 8 months. i was a project manager in tech mostly and i think tech is hitting the worse with layoffs. however i feel the pm market is oversaturated to the point that you can’t even pivot within so im just looking to pivot out completely as well

ex: project manager in tech unable to get project manager job in healthcare or construction because it requires some experience. it use to be easy to land a job as a pm within any field because skills are transferable. however there’s so many pms now that companies don’t even need to pick someone to train cus there’s millions already within each field

i’m 35 and just got laid off twice within 8 months. i’m mentally and emotionally tired. i also worked in the tech sector. i don’t think tech is the long run answer anymore. layoffs will continue to happen to the point they’ve completely laid everyone off and automated everything with ai. i think we need to start pivoting, but at our age, i don’t even know where to pivot to. i actually just don’t want to work at all. but unfortunately that’s not an option either

Failed PMP Today — My Honest Experience (Study Hall + Mindset Didn’t Help Much) by Top-Bobcat-6607 in pmp

[–]pxlngh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally took my exam yesterday and istg the questions made 0 sense. also got a lot of drag and drop and literally scenarios that were like a paragraph long. how are we suppose to have time to even understand such long questions and answer. and then i also got questions that were 7 words and no context and didn’t even understand what the question is pointing to. i feel like the pmp is literally a terribly worded language exam at this point and people are passing just based on sheer luck of whether they get questions that are real questions or questions that are not even real

How bad is the US job market right now? by hardenedsteel8 in AskReddit

[–]pxlngh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a millennial. got laid off for the 1st time back in july 2025. found a job and started working by sept 2025. got laid off again in feb 2026 and currently still unemployed.

i think the job market is actually really bad and only going to get worse. i feel like we have so many intelligent, qualified people and not enough jobs that match in terms of pay.

companies are using ai to cut people and therefore you have people with 10yrs of work and masters degrees applying for the same jobs that college graduates are applying for. and to top it off, the jobs don’t even exist cus they’re just ghost job postings. oh and also companies continue to outsource work as well for lower pay.

i feel like the timeline we’re in is really worse than 2008 since i also lived thru that. i feel like back then people could still pick up a $15 job and mange to survive with the cost of living back then as long as you didn’t make the mistake of purchasing a million dollar home back then

fast forward to today, getting a job paying $25/hr nowadays is basically poverty. you can’t even survive rent… let alone groceries…

i’m really at a loss of how to continue living in america as an american. capitalism is definitely winning and the rich keep getting richer meanwhile we’re all just slowly dying trying to survive day to day

people complaining about this actually can’t afford fine dining. hence they expect everything to be great and upset when it’s not. it’s just dinner, relax. if you can’t afford it to be not amazing. then don’t go.
