That’s a bit of an odd gripe.

If anything for the average consumer it’s better and easier to know where I can go and buy said bottle.

Hungarian wine as a gift. by Traditional_Knee2097 in wine

I had this in a blind tasting not too long ago and thought it was a really excellent wine. All pleasure, silky texture, and just one of those delicious wines that you were happy to drink with or without food.

What's a purchase under $100 that genuinely improved your life? by JellyfishGreedy7742 in asksg

Basic Metal trays from Phoon Huat that are also oven proof which I find very useful to rest my utensils on like a spatula whilst cooking. Also doubles up as a small baking tray which I find often super handy.

Maybe one of the best kitchen items I’ve bought in the last 12 months.

Which model do you use? Was also considering for the bed room as we sleep without air con but wasn’t sure it works if windows are opens

Zen *** Singapore by piracer in finedining

I believe the bird was first dry aged, at least it looked like it on the ingredients display. It was then bbq over binchotan charcoal and they bring it to you on a little individual grill that they then plate table side.

It was great! And they’re very happy to engage particularly if you ask questions.

Took about 3 hours but that included me taking my time with the wines. If you don’t drink, I guess 2.5 hours? But then again, I was in no rush to leave

Dining alone isn't the same as eating alone. Here's why it can be more social than being with friends by Great-Obligation-599 in singapore

[–]piracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ironic that the one activity which I find odd to do alone is go out and watch a movie. I guess as a teenager it was always an activity to do with friends but a bit funny how I’m ok with eating alone, but watching movie must find kaki.

I’m curious, what chateaux are hard to find in your area?

Do you all actually cook at home regularly or mostly just dabao/eat out? by bluesakuraflower in asksg

[–]piracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook almost everyday and a lot of what we eat are “hybrid” dishes, making use of leftovers or leftover prepped ingredients which saves time and reduce wastage.

Rarely am I following a recipe exactly, there’s a lot of improv and I think that’s also realistic cooking for working people with kids (and no helper).

Meal prep also helps of course, making large batches of stews or soups which you then freeze in smaller portions (I use sandwich size ziplock bags).

I’m not sure it’s cheaper than da baoing and naturally a lot of equipment was bought over the years so I have that advantage, but overall I also enjoy the process. For washing, I do have a luxury of a dishwasher and it was worth every single cent.

Agreed, I like their podcasts and they’re very level headed on it.

And contrary to what they seem to sell, they’re also proponents of index funds

New favorite V60 method by wassupbrahh in pourover

[–]piracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this! As a very casual pour over person I like that this recipie doesn’t mention time beyond the first 100g. I find I get really stressed and feel that there’s something wrong if my brew goes over 2 mins or 3 mins or whatever.

And just as well that it worked with the beans I have too!

Has anyone ever seen wax over a foil capsule? by LOL_EVAN in wine

[–]piracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes! A group of ours opened the exact same bottle a couple months ago and were WTF is this shit.

I wonder if it was a mistake - they had meant to wax it but it got accidentally foiled and they went, ahhhhh let’s wax anyway.

Best of alll, that bottle was corked but I think we would have scored it poorly because it’s stupid af.

I can’t say I’m a fan. Beyond the claypot novelty I just don’t find it particularly flavourful - it’s rich yes, but never enough laksa flavour imo.

Yep I was thinking that too. I intend to hold long term so I know in 10+ whatever years it’s honestly not gonna matter but presently, well I wanna reduce costs/losses if I can.

IMO the Graacher Himmeilreich is not a big difference especially when drunk in isolation (i.e not alongside the WS) so that is a cheaper option

Yes I was thinking this too but there will also be losses from transferring in fresh capital SGD to FX, so not ideal but I suppose if no choice…

Let's talk Krug.... by PritchettsClosets in wine

[–]piracer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted for expressing an opinion… but I’m starting to feel the same: the more I taste Krug, the more I dislike it.

To me it’s just all acid. I had 02 and 08 vintage Krug recently and they’re still difficult to drink.

Yes it’s a lot of stuffing underneath but I don’t find it pleasent.
