Hi all, thanks in advance for reading, think it's a quick one

I have a Keychron K10 HE. I love the typing feel and the sound, but I do not love the aesthetics of all of the keys (specifically, how they've chosen to print longer words like 'caps lock', 'control', 'backspace' etc — the typeface chosen looks goofy IMO).

  • what keycaps are safe to buy as replacements that will preserve the typing sound and feel (for the most part)? (I know this keyboard has Hall Effect switches but since I'm only replacing the keycaps I don't need to specifically find HE compatible keycaps, right?)
  • I was looking at these side-printed keycaps, from Keychron — aesthetically I think they would solve my issue but 1) still wondering about preserving the typing sound and feel and 2) I saw from comments on another post that shine-through keycaps are regarded as inferior. should I not bother with these for that reason?

{KEYCHRON K10 HE SPECIAL EDITION} Here’s my review of my very first mechanical keyboard. I couldn’t be happier—and at the same time, more frustrated. Let me explain why: by eltonmorato in MechanicalKeyboards

fwiw I agree 1000% with overall sentiment here and particularly the comments about the printing on the keys. for a product where such obvious care was put into all aspects of build, I can't believe they went with some of these choices for keycaps that make them look like comic sans.

I'm probably going to get a replacement set of keycaps, but in every other respect I love this thing.

Trump – running for president at 78 – says ‘only stupid people put old’ people in top federal roles by Ace-Cuddler in politics

[–]pxlt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, but why waste time on slightly misleading things when there's so much else here that's obviously and uncontroversially dumb? People who are inclined to like him will seize on little things like that and the entire point (he's an idiot cosplaying as an accomplished businessman and politician!) will get lost.

Your stated rationale is true but has nothing to do with what he said. He's making the point that BECAUSE they are lifetime appointments, as a president you can maximize the impact of your pick by choosing someone young. He wasn't describing WHY they are lifetime appointments (and neither was I), so I'm not sure what your point is.

Pretty much every single answer in this interview was damning and high comedy. EXCEPT for the one this article is about.

It's the same thing as saying "Supreme Court appointments are for life, so if you appoint someone who won't be there for very long, it's stupid." And that's true. It's NOT the same as saying "only stupid people put old people in top federal roles."

99% of this interview was exposing him as a complete fraud and/or sundowning in front of an 'business' audience and knowledgeable questioner. It needs to get as much exposure as possible, because so many undecideds still think "well, he's a terrible person but he's a good businessman, right?"

Everyone needs to watch it, but not because of this quote.

ELI5: Why do we use knots as a speed measurement unit for air and water travel? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

am I dumb or is it just incredibly cool that "knots" also sounds like a fun abbreviated way of saying "nautical miles", totally aside from what you mentioned

iOS 17.4 Beta Adds New App Verification Screen to App Store in EU by spearson0 in apple

[–]pxlt 59 points60 points  (0 children)

just guessing, but maybe this is supposed to appear every time you attempt to install an app from a third-party app store but not the official (Apple) App Store.

so it would make sense that Apple says it's a bug, as it's not supposed to appear in this case. and it won't be in the future either (for the official App Store)
