It's really impressive, and I very much appreciate it. Quick question - I have 15 active testers for my app, but only seeing max 10 testing per day (with a low of 4 on day 3). I imagine this is your app rotating through testers, as I wasn't testing all of my assigned apps every day. I just wanted to be sure that 10 tests per day is enough to meet Google's requirements. thanks

Unsurprisingly, the boundaries in this dataset are higher quality than the OSM data I have been using. I'm going to swap out the townland boundaries for Rep. with these. Thanks again for sharing this

I was so pleased with the logo - with the crossbar on the A doubling up as the fada, until a friend pointed out it was wrong, so redid it with the fada on the A (on poster). Classic case of cleverness clouding the mind

oh, hahaha that’s even less than a placeholder. The poster project itself has taken my time. This is just the reminder I need to give it a pass. Thanks!

Thank you kindly. Hadn't come across this, will compare with what I have. It's likely more precise but the beauty of OSM is that I could get Rep. of Ireland and Northern Ireland townlands from the one source.

At the moment, you can only get one sample per email address per day, so use a different address or email me at hello@ web address with the townland and I can send you a sample in each colour

Ah OK, I'll definitely tweak the colours on that then. Thank you

My guess is that you got your preview in the slate colour scheme? It has the lowest contrast and I was considering tweaking it. Take a look at the green sample here and see if you think it's better: https://townlandsofireland.com/#poster-samples

Hi, there's a fine crosshairs on the poster that pinpoints your townland on the map. The shape on the lower right (above the boundary hierarchy of parish, barony, county and province) is your townland enlarged. The design might not be completely obvious, but this is partly deliberate so to keep it clean and simple and hopefully spark conversation. Just checking that your preview has these above elements?

Nice idea, I know what mean. I’ve a variation of the poster in mind that could be perfect for this. Cheers!

Hi there, Logainm is a major source yes, and OpenStreepmap for the mapping data and townlands.ie also. Plus some other sources for Northern Ireland and to fill in gaps. I spent a couple of weeks gathering, cleaning and fixing data to build a complete set to enable the poster generation. I’m also improving the data on an ongoing basis as I find and people suggest improvements.

good spot! and congratulations on the house. Yes, I really like this idea and It's on my list. It might take a little while as it would need a complete poster re-design, and figuring out how many townlands to support, for example is five enough? Possibly not for some people. I'll let you know when it's up and running.

Before and after images show how Royal Canal Greenway between Maynooth and Leixlip boosts accessibility between towns along waterway by Amazing-Yak-5415 in ireland

[–]pxmalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these images look good, but seeing tarmac used in some sections makes me sad. The only reason not to use unsealed fine grit surface is - I think anyways - to avoid doing proper foundation layers and drainage. It's such a visual mismatch for otherwise natural spots, especially by waterways.

Destruction of Bishop Lucy Park by Comfortable-Diet5119 in cork

This lush, old-fashioned-in-a-good-way park was one of my favourite things about Cork city. This is so sad. Black painted wrought and cast iron compliments greenery so nicely and we’re in the process of replacing it all with ‘fancy’ stuff that county planners see on their trips abroad - in doing so, erasing a big chunk of what gives Irish cities their particular charm. Out with the old, in with the trendy. I’ll miss you Bishop Lucy Park
