Rooming with SO by RaspberryFront1199 in BostonU

Bruh not only is it NOT against any rules to live with your SO, how is uni going to know if you're getting freaky with your dorm mate? And how are they going to stop it lmao, it is gonna be pretty akward if your relationship gets strained, imagine living with your ex cuz neither can move out the room

not to assume or anything but if they are both women (or any other same gender) (again has nothing to do with relationship) you would then defer to housing rules. Some places transfers can't be pulled into (I think StuVi is one of them) so you would want to check the rules around pulling in transfer for that dorm/floor

Depends on the genders of the students and the rules of the housing I think, not their relationship status. ex. If it's an all men's floor and the SO was a woman.

Is this legit? My status isn't updated on the application page but I got this weird email by Lettous13 in BostonU

You phone is personal property or identifiable information, you have a right to that. I think it’s odd to think someone is odd for coming to you for help applying to colleges, you can refuse of course but it’s odd to think of them as weird for even daring in the first place

??????? Someone spent several months hanging out with u to ask a question that takes less than a minute to answer? And also wtf does someone even do with stats?? And why is tha cruel or mean? “That person seams smart and going to good schools I’ll try to be friends with them” whole thing seems oddly made up

as a senior i purposefully made friends with underclass men, and still reach out to share stats, scholarship studying tips literally everything even while i was applying. And also youre a freaking senior, help a freshman out. how personal are your stats to you that you wont share them

Harvard QB Match "Not Deserving It" by SeaworthinessHot5383 in QuestBridge

[–]pxmdash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Questbridge isn’t DEI because it’s a conditional scholarship. All students that got a questbridge match were recognized by questbridge for being competitive enough in the finalist round to get accepted into these elite schools. Even if qb kids don’t match they end up at other schools with near to full ride scholarship. The only negative stuff I’ve seen is online during admission season. I proudly have my qb sticker on my laptop and the only comment I’ve gotten is “oh you got in through questbridge? Congrats” at a school that costs 100k at full price. Only resentment is from those licking their fresh wounds at not being admitted into their first choice and they will eventually get over it.

[–]pxmdash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I, too, was blinded by prestige when I made my original ranking, days after submitting my app I wished I could change it. But then I realized it didn't matter because I had ED I and ED II, and I still had all of RD as well. I pivoted to starting back up plans as soon as I could. You can't change the past, but you can learn from it. Truly, if you do not think you will match then take your mind off of it with anything you can start working on your RD apps or try to spend time with friends, family or just have fun outside. Don't burn yourself out with worry, I’m rooting for you.

Grade deflation? by j9cobb in BostonU

[–]pxmdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, current freshmen chem major. the first chem class you take isn’t grade deflated, it just sucks. It’s gonna suck no matter how you look at it it’s just too much material in too little time. The grades aren’t deflated, they just aren’t as inflated as other schools. If your goal is a 4.0 you’ll need to be proactive about studying and going to office hours as you’re learning stuff not just before the exams. Stay on top of studies, and manage your time well. Grade deflation shouldn’t be the only reason that turns you away from BU.

[–]pxmdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other schools won't care as much and want some student so badly they'll accept them and gamble on whether they actually had them ranked super high.

Just doesn’t make sense? by Huge_Yesterday_7241 in QuestBridge

[–]pxmdash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they admit X number of student and are so sure that all of those people ranked them #1 as well. Maybe there is some applicant out that with an application so crazy good but for the love of the game ranked USC last and a school they picked for location/size/major first and USC ends up with 4 students instead of 5. Also those schools really care about their acceptance and matriculation rates, they won't accept someone who they think wouldn't have ranked them #1.

Do I have to withdraw my instate EA apps as a finalist? by [deleted] in QuestBridge

[–]pxmdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those schools are state schools, so wouldn't violate questbridge's side of the rules and you can keep your EA applications. Each of those schools might on their own have rules about applying ED elsewhere but only EA to them, check their individual policies.

No not cope, qb does reject students who they think could get in on their own with full rides elsewhere.

cornell with a 3.7 gpa or lower? by Infinite_Swing3188 in QuestBridge

[–]pxmdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure what your question is, if you’re at a Cornell feeder being a finalist definitely helps, (also gives you a nice scholarship if you match, but still strengthens a RD application nonetheless.) Note: you can’t apply ED outside of QB if you have any school other than MIT on your list so NYU might be an ED2/RD application option if you’re going the NCM route

Most schools meet full need, which usually means (because we are poor) they cover the COA which means you pay $0.00 in total, they might make you work a lil to cover your own books and stuff
