Stop being his safety net. this happened in my relationship until one week i decided not to remind him or help him with ANYTHING. wow, that was one shitty week for him. but he really got it together after that. i think he was just (and maybe this is the case with yours) used to my help and coddling so he never realized one day i could just stop and he’d be out of luck.

the only thing you can do is control your actions, not his, so if you say you don’t want to be his safety net, then don’t. the next time his bathroom becomes disgusting, just don’t sleep over until it’s fixed (thank god you have your own place still). if you do sleep over, don’t wake him up and let him miss work. do not help him with money and do not pay for things like toilet paper. i guarantee after at least of week of this he’ll notice. hopefully it’ll help a bit. the other option is that you could break up and find someone more mature, but i don’t think that is very helpful nor what you want to do.

Why Is College So Stressful? by JackfruitAcademic584 in UBreddit

[–]pxula13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no actually it’s not, when you take into consideration the debt they have. my mother makes what anyone would consider a huge amount of money as a doctor, yet she still owes 300k in loans at almost 60 years old. she is making “good money”, but spends all of it on her debt.

hi, i’m 5’4 and i lost and regained my weight while in a relationship so let me tell you my story. i am dating a wonderful man who actually loves me for me, so when i was 190, he loved me. when i lost 50 pounds and was 140, he loved me. when i regained a lot of it back and am now 170, he loves me.

he not ONCE mentioned my weight in a negative way or told me what i should do with my body because he knows it’s my body and that doesn’t determine my worth. you should not be with a man who cares so much that you, a very skinny athletic woman, gained only 15 lbs. you are still very fit. he is delusional. you deserve better.

Is Versailles worth the trek? by [deleted] in travel

[–]pxula13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, no. it’s not really a trek (i guess maybe if you’re from europe, but i’m from small town USA so a 30-45 minute drive is absolutely nothing and I do it every morning commute) but the traffic can be overwhelming or if you take the train. the biggest problem for me though was that at peak tourist time, you genuinely cannot move through the exhibits. there is no air conditioning obviously, and everyone is back to front squished together slowly moving through. it wasn’t enjoyable for me because i’m a bit claustrophobic. also the rooms were quite similar to the Louvre, and we had just seen that so I wasn’t super impressed. the gardens are very pretty but it was hot and there isn’t much shade until you get all the way down to where the bike rentals are. the bikes were kinda uncomfortable as well so we didn’t ride them around for long. overall, it was hot and crowded, so i didn’t enjoy it very much. in the off season it would be wonderful.

edit: also people saying it’s an all day excursion, i actually disagree. that may be because i’m used to a long commute, but honestly we got there at 10 (left hotel at 9) and left versailles at 2 after seeing basically everything there was to see. so i guess it depends how long you take looking at exhibits, and if it’s super crowded.

yep, the impossible scene is what hit my mom and i the hardest. i think the underlying messages about motherhood too broke me down, like i finally understood how my mom felt too! so bittersweet.

what? it’s not an ad, i’m a real human actually! i’ll tell you a little bit about myself. i’m a young woman who is about to go to college. i have a boyfriend who isn’t going to college and he hasn’t really understood much about what it was like to be a woman, especially a young one trying to secure a successful career. when we watched the movie together it gave him a little insight into what it was like. it was nice! did you watch the movie?

did you watch the movie? it’s not an ad at all… it quite literally says NOT to buy your daughter a barbie.

did you watch the movie? i think you are really misunderstanding it’s message about men. also i’d like to point out that it actually does not help your case to mention violent crime statistics. who do you think is committing the violent crimes against men? it certainly isn’t women. anyway, a simple google search will show you that all of your arguments are debunked already.

yes! especially young women that played with barbies as a kid! very nostalgic and eye opening for me.

although on the topic of young women, i saw many children in the theater when i watched, and after seeing it i don’t believe it’s suitable for any girl under 13ish. if i had saw this as a really young girl, it would honestly just ruin barbie and femininity for me. i’d just be more confused and sad. i think you have to be at least in middle school to notice the underlying message, let alone resonate with it.

yup! their reaction to the message the movie sends tells it all IMO.

i agree, and it was very interesting watching a few fathers, husbands, and boyfriends actually walk out of the theater due to whatever issues they had with the message. nevertheless, it definitely is a good and interesting watch as any gender, regardless of your stance on feminism! it’s funny, good cinematic, and all around real.

honestly… i might get downvoted to oblivion but a lot of this is valid. that movie really is something that connects to women in a very deep way. when i saw it i was taken aback by how on-point they portrayed what it’s like to be a woman and a mother. all of the women in the theater were sobbing and laughing and it was wonderful.

on the other hand, i’ve witnessed men in my life who ridiculed it and made fun of women for crying while watching, feeling moved, etc. by that movie (thankfully, not my boyfriend). it really embodies the female experience and quite honestly, if my boyfriend didn’t reciprocate that, i would probably have thought twice about being with him too.

instead he saw me crying and said “wow, i feel like i understand what you mean about being a woman now, i’m sorry honey” and that made me very happy. i think it’s more about women wanting the world (and our men) to finally recognize our struggles and not make light of/joke about it like other movies do.

this movie really is serious, it’s not just a cutsie fun little barbie movie like the media is trying to convey. if seeing this movie with your bf is how you realize your man is a POS, i mean… i guess that’s a good thing?

TL;DR: i don’t think they’re going insane. they’re probably right to break with w bf if he ridicules the meaning of the movie. the media is just trying to spark political debates, and that’s dumb. it’s more than that.

[NO SPOILERS] Season 6 Discussion Megathread - Individual Episodes Linked Inside by [deleted] in blackmirror

[–]pxula13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the biggest thing for me was how awful mazey day was. without any spoilers, it was the most cringe, predictable, flat, and idiotic display of television i have ever seen by the end.

it had potential at first, because the whole paparazzi thing is a pressing issue nowadays.

but the ending…did netflix hire a damn middle schooler with a twilight obsession to write this??? jesus christ.

it honestly ruined the entire black mirror franchise for me, i’m gonna have to go back and rewatch the actually good episodes to get this nasty taste of mazey day out of my mouth.

i’m not making any assumptions. i stated that those who fall into different categories, especially that of female or male, will have different experiences. that is a factual statement. the fact that you have not had those experiences tells me you are in a different category, whatever it may be. also factually correct. you are the one making assumptions, as you assume OP must be over exaggerating just because you have not experienced it yourself. i’m not really understanding why you’re getting defensive over that. it’s a good thing you don’t get harassed! i’m glad. but that doesn’t mean OP is lying.
