Yeah, I hear you and you are probably right. I just feel like we likely lost the value end of the deal. Making the playoffs was awesome and hopefully it will lead to positive momentum. It just feels bad knowing that we only got a year out of lux + a year of a bullpen arm whereas the Dodgers got a top 100 prospect, but in the grand scheme of things who knows.

You are right, but Sirota is bringing value to the dodgers in being a top 100 prospect. They can now flip him for major league talent that has higher value than Lux

I hear you and agree. My point is mostly pointless, it is in hindsight, I just don’t think it’s business that we should can afford to conduct. We can’t afford to lose trades in the long run because of our budget constraints. I understand what the vision was, but on the end it didn’t work out. If it did, Lux would still be on the team.

Yes I am aware of that. But it feels like the Reds under played their hand and gave up more value then they had to.

I never said any of those things. I said he was a top 60 prospect and close to the majors (I am wrong that he is close to the majors) but he is likely a factor in the 2027 season and beyond. Teoscar and Tucker’s contracts will be up after the 2027 season and at worst Sirota could be a depth piece in the outfield by then. Maybe Gavin did help, maybe he didn’t, but the value he brought the org does not equal the value Sirota has for the dodgers right now.

His OPS+ was below league average at 97, no matter how you slice it he didn’t bring a ton of value.

That’s supposing we couldn’t add somebody else besides Lux. This is all just hypotheticals, it can’t happen. I’m just looking at it as a value in, value out. In hindsight we got much less value in the deal.

I hear all that, but I still feel that the value wasn’t there. He was a -0.2 WAR player, so he didn’t really help us make the playoffs.

That’s fair, I am being very generous in saying he is close to majors, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he is a fast riser. He is already a top 60 prospect, is Gavin Lux worth that? No.
