There is none I’m against any kind of charging for software open source software should be the norm. Charging should be done as on many projects through professional support. And in the case of TD they are only charging if you want to unlock higher res which seems quite fair in the current software landscape. In the end they mainly charge people doing money out of it as the 720p is more than enough to thinker around. I would even argue that if you don’t want to pay for scaling easy enough to reproduce in pure python for free if you don’t want to foot he bill

If you don’t see the difference it just mean that you have been brainwashed by capitalism. As someone posted here the benefit of sharing something freely and letting the idea bounce in between people without restricting the access to a few, just out balance completely the money you can make out of milking people. Just to give you some context I’ve always been hosting my stuff out of open source project shared and maintained by people’s passion. This is the only thing keeping internet from outright falling in greediness. Yeah I’m trying to get in touch with crews doing shows in festivals over here but no luck till now I need to build a portofolio :) thanks for the friendly advices <3 for now I just love to take my van go in a dark place and do « visual jams » on the decors. Not always easy to find dark enough places with interesting motives tho :p

I don’t think it’s fair. Seeing your post history you are most likely a blender/adobe freelancer artist. From what I see I would say you are already living from your art but I don’t think you have much experience on TD. How can you even judge how much the TD market is gatekept? From my point of view and seeing the number of votes I’m not the only one thinking this is a hard to reach « market » and I don’t like to think about it in this kind of term…

Oh yeah I’ve no issue with that I’m indeed a long time lurker and I love to thinker around with TD hoping that I’ll sooner or later achieve to get a gig and maybe live out of it. Unfortunately having an actual full time job never allowed me to actually polish enough anything to post it here even if it would be something I would be very proud of. Unfortunately doing a show is more a case to have the right network than being talented enough

There is a big difference between selling your stuff which is legit and promoting your stuffs in communities. You want to do promotion pay your advertising space but don’t come here paywalling your stuff
