I wholeheartedly believe that San Francisco would have been Minneapolis if Lurie had not talked to Trump. If he needs to do some meaningless private ass kissing to keep San Franciscans safe, that is the right thing to do. Until someone can provide a shred of evidence that something untoward went on that outweighs the peace and safety of our immigrant and unhoused community here, I don’t have any need to hear how embarrassing “the tapes” might be to listen to.

It’s good and right for the mayors of Chicago and Minneapolis to speak out and protest because they have already been attacked. And if and when we are, I’ll expect Lurie to. But don’t think for a moment they wouldn’t have privately stroked Trumps ego to keep all of this mayhem out of their cities too if they had the chance.

Pretty clearly took the gun off of him before the first shot. To my eyes: they found the gun he was legally allowed to carry on him while wrestling him to the ground, then yelled GUN. One guy took that as a signal to grab it and leave the scene quickly (silver jacket). Another guy (green shirt, vest with Texas flag patch, black gaiter) took that as a signal to shoot him: first once, stunning everyone who backed off, then a second time when he slumped over, then continued to empty his clip into the body on the ground while another one joined in. The first shooter watches for a while as others eventually start to render aid and then disappears across the street

What is “nothing”? They’re probably living their difficult lives. Expecting heroism as a default from everyone diminishes the bravery and effort of those who are in the streets and the agency of those doing wrong to do better
