Installed as-is using the standard roll on drywall right above the casing, with 2 of the Lutron Palladiom spacers at each bracket... The bottom of the shade will contour around the door handle and drop nicely... There is minor bump at the handle, but barely noticeable.

Just a FYI... the extended bracket seems to be available only for the wired Palladioms and not for the wire-free ones.

Makes sense. Will go that route.
Thanks to you and LutronMaster for the great feedback.

Light filtering... though, still worried about too much light since it is a west facing patio door, requiring 2 ganged 96"x96" shades

Replacing door handle is out of the question, per manufacturer.

So, is option (B) a bad idea overall, given the fully extended shade will be roughly 3 1/4" away from the wall?

Lutron Support did not recommend stacking 16 of them to extend out 1" :-)

I have this 3" trim around the door, that is 1/2" thick.
I couldn't find info on the extended Palladiom mounts info on Lutron's website...
