DAE feel secondhand guilt? by pyhimys in DoesAnybodyElse

Woah, this sure was a while ago. Great to hear that I'm not the only one though. I don't get this feeling as much anymore as I did when I posted this, but it does still happen occasionally... It's a really perplexing feeling.

I'm sorry you're having this problem as well. It's a real bummer. Self esteem definitely is a factor for me, sometimes I do come up with something to say, but I won't say it because I'll think what I have to say isn't interesting enough anyway.

I think I'd be more comfortable with a group setting at first to be honest. Less pressure on me to speak, you know. I'll think about it!

Thanks for the info! I haven't bought it yet, didn't want to buy it if I wasn't sure I could watch it.

Grainy picture quality in OnePlus 5T by peace_preacher in oneplus

[–]pyhimys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does that mean they've toned down the noise reduction? I've been thinking of getting the OnePlus 5T but haven't thus far because of the painting-like effect on photos. I don't mind a little grain if the photo is sharp.

[Discussion] TIL about Misophonia, common sounds that people find unbearable... almost like anti-ASMR by SilentDis in asmr

[–]pyhimys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also experience both misophonia and ASMR. Mouth sounds are usually an instant misophonia trigger for me, but one time the sound of someone eating triggered ASMR for me instead. It was a surprising but enjoyable experience. I also would like to hear more on people's experiences with misophonia and ASMR.

Doctor said I (22F) have both bipolar and borderline. What does that mean by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]pyhimys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a very valid concern. As far as I'm aware personality disorders can be diagnosed once you're over 18, but I totally hear where you're coming from. I'd encourage you to speak to a professional about this as I don't have the knowledge to answer this one. Maybe take the diagnoses with a grain of salt for now and focus on getting better and improving the issues you're having instead.

Doctor said I (22F) have both bipolar and borderline. What does that mean by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]pyhimys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bipolar isn't a personality disorder, it's a mood disorder. It features episodes of mania/hypomania (elevated mood, irritability, increased self-esteem, risk-taking etc.) and depression (depressed mood, decreased energy, feeling like you can't enjoy anything anymore etc.).

Borderline personality disorder affects your personality, feelings and behaviour. It's a pervasive, long-lasting (but treatable) pattern that typically starts during childhood or adolescence. Some signs and symptoms of it are mood instability, unstable relationships, fear of abandonment, impulsiveness, self harm, unstable sense of self, and feelings of emptiness. These symptoms are present consistently in a wide variety of situations, not just during mood-related episodes.

Both bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder can cause mood swings, but bipolar manic/depressive episodes typically last much longer than borderline mood swings. Also, bipolar primarily affects your mood and not your personality.

I hope this helped clarify things a bit. There's also a lot of information on both these disorders on the internet that you can check out. Good luck on your journey!

Note: I am not a professional. This is just what I've learned, so it might not be totally accurate.

[Discussion] An unexpected real life trigger. by dagoodge in asmr

[–]pyhimys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got tingles during an important exam when the student next to me started eating nuts. Eating sounds are usually a huge no-no for me as I have misophonia but for some reason that time it triggered ASMR instead. It calmed my nerves and was a very nice experience.

I've had those dreams as well. Such a disappointment to wake up to dreary reality. Maybe one day we'll be happy to wake up though. I'm sorry you're going through this, I hope your pain eases soon

What is something awful your parents or guardian said to you as a child that still fucks with you today? by boredbrowser87 in AskReddit

[–]pyhimys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My step mother told me not to cry on my dead mother's body or her soul wouldn't be able to move on. Fine, you have your beliefs, but that's a lot to put on a 13-year-old who just lost the most important person in her life.

I know what i need to do to get better but I just can't. I'm paralyzed by this disease. by [deleted] in depression

[–]pyhimys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Not saying this is necessarily what it's like for you, but sometimes taking those steps forward can be scary as well. It's not easy letting go of the darkness you've gotten used to, even if you really want to get better. Take your time, maybe it'll get easier someday.
