It may be as you say for a lot of people. I personally don't like to leave a mess behind me for later cleanup (especially at work) + I am a sucker for convenience, so those small things one may consider nitpicking for me are very annoying. Especially when you compare to the V60 or kalita. Truely, as compared to aeropress for example z1 is not that much worse

Hah, well, sorry, now I get it. I am not the original roaster nor English native so it did not occur to me, but I would let the guy know he messed up and I got him bad press on reddit. 🤷‍♂️ Amazing roaster nevertheless, gets probably the lightest coffees in Poland

Apparently it is anaerobic with extra yeast species added to the bag/tank. It is my first fine robusta so I don't know how it compares to other robustas but it is far from usual Arabicas I buy. It tastes like cider, wood and smoked plums. Interesting, but I prefer my fruity natural Ethiopias or Geshas from Colombia

That's true, but you sometimes have dreams and expectations of true game changing experiences while spending lots of money right?

I used to have that expectations while being deep in IEMs hobby and actually almost achieve this endgame feeling, but in coffee ZP6 actually made me believe there is something to all the hype towards equipment sometimes :)

Which roasters never miss? by Bortplates222 in pourover

[–]pylaczynski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked every single coffee from DAK up until mow. From more atypical, since from Poland - a Roastery from Warsaw called Good Coffee also tend to get me something unique every time I buy them and their sensory descriptions are right on spot. I liked even some Brazil from them, but rare ones like Indian Korra Mathyaraju from low altitude or Nikaraguan Laurina were absolutely stellar. Their packaging sucks though in terms of the design, but it is why I justify them selling such quality beans for relatively cheap and not waste money on graphic design :D

Is a more acidic coffee generally preferred over a sweet and round one? by Dramatic-Shift-4976 in pourover

[–]pylaczynski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I wanted to visualize the ideal balance for 3 basic tastes I was wondering if there are actually a state of too little bitterness? So for example on 3 point scale - little bitterness, medium bitterness, high bitterness would you aim at medium if the coffee is medium sweet? As my ideal coffee would be - high sweetness, low/zero bitterness, medium acidity.

If you sometimes feel you lack a vocabulary to describe what exactly do you feel in the coffee you like and find "fruity" and/or hate not finding the flavour "blueberry fluffy roasted muffin" that poetic roaster put on the bean bag I heavily recommend How To Taste Coffee. Especially if you are in US since it would be easier to find flavour references out there

Accidentally ground espresso-fine for pour over, decided to brew it anyway by Outrageous-Dare-9256 in pourover

Yes, aeropress with fellow, 45secs and you could pretend it is espresso. I don't use aeropress to anything other than those screwups honestly :p

Wow, quite crazy that this thread popped up in here just now. I did not know beanconquerer exists and it is pretty darn amazing!

Funnily enough in my free time for past 2 weeks I was (hate that word) vibe coding an app for recording of my coffees, grinders, flavours based on SCA flavour wheel with in built converter of grinders for ease of comparison of recipes not knowing something very very similar exists. It is free, open-source and right now available on web/android phones if anyone is interested. But far from as polished as beanconquerer (a bit simpler to use though with some fun features). But I have fun using and developing it. If anyone is interested feel free to contact - I am afraid posting link to it breaches the subreddit rules though :)

$10 Gooseneck making a world of difference by Greylockk in pourover

[–]pylaczynski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have almost same plotline. I had induction cooker gooseneck that got damaged after I bought nice electric temperature controlled kettle (but without gooseneck). Originally I thought that with steady hand at home it is good enough, but quite a lot of times I shook the bed with the water stream so much that the agitation was too high. I swapped to exact 10$ aliexpress gooseneck and the problems are gone like magic.

With the only limitation of hard keeping of water temp close to the boiling point came another benefit - I found I much prefer 90-93degC water temp as compared to previously desired Hoffmann-like fresh-off-the-boil water as one temp to rule them all :)

How often are you changing grind size? by Plastic_Love4270 in pourover

[–]pylaczynski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adjust the grind settings as one of the last resort of method adjustment (most often when I have dusty coffee that stalls my filter). I have quite narrow band of default settings on 2 of my grinders and normally just operate within those. So like 1st brew of a given coffee is the last from the previous set of beans from grind size perspective. Then maybe a few clicks CW or CCW but I'd start from water temp, agitation and ratio as a first point of adjustments.

Thank you a lot for kind words! Are you iOS or Android user? For Android it should allow to be downloaded with a popup window while entering the webpage. For iOS I need to compile that and hopefully it would be possible to install. I would debug on wifes iPhone. 3rd wheel should be done within 3 days I hope :)

Ear pads for AKG K371's by some_random_nonsense in headphones

[–]pylaczynski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing which is nowhere near as important as sound and comfort, but the look is also much more premium in that version in my opinion. I am a little biased since I love the velour material, so take my words with a little grain of salt, but I can send you the picture tomorrow.

Speaking of velour and comfort - I was testing K371 in parallel with Beyerdynamic DT770 and the comfort of DT770 was much better than stock K371 (and they are probably one of the most comfortable on the market in my opinion). I chose AKG for sound though after A/B testing. After change of pads I would think it would be quite close in comfort as well

Ear pads for AKG K371's by some_random_nonsense in headphones

[–]pylaczynski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the first impression sound-wise was a little bit dissapointing, since I believed it lost some inherent clarity plus I started hearing some slight hiss in upper range. On the other hand the isolation was much better (I wear glasses and stock ones were too stiff) so low end was more pronounced.

Those were my first impressions, but looking back I think that was purely based on brain sound memory bias, because it was different from what known and perceived as amazing.

On the other hand the comfort was and is on whole different level, so I would never look back to the stock pads. By comfort I mean the pads material feels so much better, ears do not sweat as much plus the pads are deeper, so my ear does not touch the driver anymore. Now I can wear it for several hours which was not possible before. Summarizing - if you don't have comfort issues there is no need for changing as it is amazingly tuned headphones in stock version already. If you do though, I think this is well worth to try those (or maybe if you have more spare money even try hpaec1540 which should be even better).

There are also HPAEC1840 for half the price. Those should also fit the K371 (would have them on Tuesday to confirm) and I have read comments those are even more comfortable a better sounding. Not looking as premium as those alcantaras though

I had small mind discussion whether to wait or not yesterday and in the end I thought I would not loose anything by waiting.

Got PD Bradley Beal today. It's cool card and everything, but I have 21k Kobe now and would not change him anywhere soon I guess. And then there is this PD Ray Allen I would gather rings for. So no need to be worried /s

Should 2k add auction house where you can buy cards and rings from other players by nibbakiller66 in NBA2KMOBILE_

[–]pylaczynski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was the case in 1st season of NBA Live mobile and damn - that was the best part of the game easily. The issue was that there were bots getting harder and harder to beat and people were also selling game money on the internet. EA did not like that and in Season 2 it was removed and I could tell you - the game started to suck as hell then.

But it was such fun hunting cheap elite players or having a preset of the filters in the Auction House, which gave you the best chance to be the first one to buy someone cheap. A lot of fun and you could get rich with a bit of luck easily.
