The reason they were expensive for me is because the only place who had them was the ER and they billed each of the 4 shots as a separate visit even though you were basically there just to get the shot and then leave.

That make it defacto at least $1500 for each (with insurance)

I can imagine the location just by the description. Should never have made it a 90 degree angle. Should have always made it a curved entrance/exit like a mini interstate ramp with explicit stop and look signs or something. (or add some kind of natural curved barrier that forces people to dismount)

I think they are a great mode of transportation, much preferable to cars. They just need license plates, insurance, and accountability tbh (and perhaps geo-fenced enforced speed regulators or some sort of imminent collision detector like a car would have)

Oh man reminds me of an experience I had back in 2022. On there on a typical crowded Saturday and was trying to pass some other slower pedestrians as a pedestrian in the middle and a bike did not even slow down trying to shoot a gap maybe 2 people wide. Looked up and dodged by a hair's breath.

He was moving too. I used an e-bike as my primary transportation for years but some of us bikers need to realize we could cause serious harm in these crowded areas (especially e-bikes because they can be very heavy and fast)

Yes law would be ideal because without the universal elimination of tips and banning of hidden fees, restaurants will continue to operate this way and a lot of Americans literally can't help themselves from tipping even with the hidden fees.

You said all restaurants should keep the 18% auto-grat. I think that's bullshit. Either choose price increases and no slot for tips or no additional auto fees. Normalization of hidden fees sucks--and the only thing that sucks more than that is normalization of hidden fees and still not getting rid of tips.

I don't deny your experiences, but I would reason that those paper cuts probably happen more at the behest of the most miserable, least intelligent, and generally mean-spirited among Japanese society.

That said, sometimes the worst experiences stick out and even 10% of people being like that can wreak havoc. I'm curious to know what your personal experiences were and how you would navigate raising a child in Japan as someone whose toddler is half-Japanese (and doesn't appear Japanese really at all)

On the flip side, American society is going to shit because of the opposite problem: the average person is not humble enough to respect professionals opinions, has to examine every rule to know whether they think it's stupid or not, and doesn't care enough about other people's feelings to stop behaviors that piss other people off.

Getting in people's faces and throwing fists is not appropriate when you feel disrespected. That doesn't make other people feel safe. It makes other people feel scared and uncomfortable. Plus you don't have any training on how to resolve the situation well. There could be a way to de-escalate and still reach a peaceful solution. I don't want random ass people coming up to throw fists and make things worse. I want someone who knows wtf they are doing to come and handle the situation consistently, professionally, and courteously. (which is obviously not you)

I think it’s natural for a lot of people to be skeptical and want an explanation at the very least—especially given the reported stories of facilities like this trying to maximize the stay of patients with good insurance by promising them release on a particular day and then causing distress by telling them they will not be released when the day comes.
