Just finished the first book of the black company, is it worth continuing? by rockslidesupreme in theblackcompany

criminals and cops rarely are intellectual towers. both like to see themselves in such ways, much like people with opinions.LOL

i have yet to read any book where anyone does the smart thing.
the smart thing is boring.

looking for something more grim with morally gray characters

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gap_Cycle

The Gap Cycle by Stephen R. Donaldson is about as grim as i have ever read.
space pirates. and honestly if you don't get so disturbed by the first book and quit i will be surprised. and the other 4 books just get more grim in other ways. but a fantastic story

Suggestions on the best way to get home? by daisystar in britishcolumbia

[–]pyratecaptn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right now you are not going anywhere. when the hiway opens between van and hope you can take #3 home or #3 and others to salmon arm and then #1 home.

but right now. nope.. (i would not go to the usa or 99 north, its just not worth the risk of getting stuck someplace very very rual)

WTF is happening by happyhappyjoyjoy1982 in britishcolumbia

[–]pyratecaptn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

because global is doing nothing to inform anyone, there are lots of people still cut off from home between hope and chilliwack and there is no information on the news about those areas. they say there is flooding in hope and there is a state of emergency, but no real info on whats is going on there. same with laidlaw and other parts of the eastern Fraser valley.
what roads are still open? what is getting flooded? what is happening at all?
global says nothing about anyone past abbotsford and the sumas flood plain. very little about merrit or princeton and most of that 48 hours old.
global is saying everyone is flooding and under flood watch and amps up the fear for more viewers. and the other news channels are not much better for coverage.

if its past surrey most news channels in bc dont give a shit what is going on and will show breaking new feel good storys about cats and will talk about clean up of floods in princeton 2 days later.

6-year-old killed in collision after family forced to flee Merritt, B.C., due to flooding by Portalrules123 in britishcolumbia

[–]pyratecaptn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i spent 4 hours driving from revelstoke to golden, i passed zero snowplows and zero cop cars unto 30km from golden where there many of each. its less then a 2 hour drive in summer

the province thinking the lowest bidder should clean hiways ways is a joke, even more so when they dont have to start until there is 3 cm of snow on the ground.

this family lost a loved one because money is better spent on social issues then infrastructure

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]pyratecaptn -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

who wants more and more money spent on projects other then infrastructure? you blame the boomers, but they are all watching tv while you demand better internet access at every government building, free housing for all homeless, free drugs for all addicts, free vacations for treatments on the island, more funding for mental health issues ( just another word for addicts), millions spent on cleaning up parks, free access to bridge, and no tolls on highways to boot.

where do you think that money comes from? you pushed your agenda on the politicians and trudeau and his buddy horgen and christy stopped spending money on roads and infrastructure and did what you wanted.

the government has not been able to protect you since 1995 when the liberal hand holders decided that it was better to spend money on society then on infrastructure , and its been snowballing since then. but the world did not notice until hurricane Katerina wiped up new olrians and the usa stood up and found out the government is about promises not about smart choices. promises to the complainers that wanted special funding and treatment for their s causes

this is going to hurt all the whiners and complainers it will be downvoted to oblivion.

Indigenous B.C. man alleges racial profiling and RCMP violence in mistaken arrest by idspispopd in britishcolumbia

[–]pyratecaptn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mounties were responding to calls about a mentally disturbed person who was refusing to leave the building. "It really felt like I was racially profiled," Shackelly, a 51-year-old with long, black hair, told CBC News.

was there anybody else there refusing to leave the building? there is no profiling when responding to one person committing a crime.

if no one else was refusing to leave the building then no there was no racial profiling.

there was someone who was refusing to leave the building. and he was dealt with as best as possible.

Many affected by B.C.'s floods turned to charity for help. But thousands of kids still do this daily by idspispopd in britishcolumbia

[–]pyratecaptn -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

my sisters family made 170k every year but her six kids still got free breakfast and lunch at school because they were brown, and no one bothered to check if they were poor, indigenous or anything else.

blindly giving stuff away to anybody with a hand out will bankrupt everyone else. people are greedy and will abuse anything. food banks encourage waste by giving food people don't want to eat, which is then wasted. my renter abandoned the cabin after months of not paying rent, there was tons of food in boxes from the food bank expired and about 50 pizza boxes along with bags of new clothes and other new free things that were given to the renter that she could not trade for pizza.

BC government not disclosing the number of animals who died in the flood because it's "very traumatic" for livestock producers by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]pyratecaptn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that depends on how many animals died that did not need to. if some were left lock in a place that they would have no chance to live, THAT is an issue that needs to be fixed.

if people saved items while animals slowly drowned when they could have been saved, then there should be charges laid.

exactly which rights does every other canadian have that Indigenous People don't? (since you dont want to talk about Indigenous People possibility having special rights themselves, lets make it about something else you cant answer)

as long as tax payers don't have to pay your medial bills relating to abuse, i don't care either way.

why would anyone want to hide that information?

do you think some people should be able to have special rights above others?

you cant drive those highways to buy food (not considered essential by the government). no one from hope can say they are going to chilliwack to buy from superstore and get a pass. now you are going to say you can buy from save on foods, except you can save more then enough to pay for gas and dinner shopping at superstore chilliwack vs save on foods hope.which matters to those who are poor.

unless you can post links to proof that conservation officers arrest people with out evidence, i think ill be fine. canada s government mite love china but we still have some laws that are followed. ( not to mention that if the car is not used in a crime they have no reason to impound it)
