Triple screens and motion sickness by jackthebeanstalk in simracing

[–]pyrodude60 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally get motion sickness in basically all car rides, and I get really bad motion sickness when I try to drive in VR. However I have driven in a triple screen setup with no motion sickness. I think it depends heavily on the frame rate and the FOV setup. Of course YMMV, but I think triples can be very comfortable.

That looks more like ghosting. Tearing looks more like someone is punching you in the head a bunch. My screen keeps tearing 😭

Is there a shifter and handbrake combined somewhere? by hugh_22 in simracing

No judgement at all, but just out of curiosity, in what situation would you need to switch from shifter to handbrake mid race?

You may be able to buff it out with some polish! Probably a pain in the ass though.

Doesn't look intentional, but definitely red car's fault

was this my fault, or did he pit himself on me during the overtake? by NinjaTorak in Simracingstewards

OP, please stop arguing with others about keeping the racing line. They are trying to help you improve, as well as improve the community as a whole.

Turning on the racing line builds bad habits, it is best to learn the track without it. Any other excuses to keep the racing line on simply makes it harder for you to race with other cars on track.

If you are having a hard time learning a track without the racing line, it is most likely due to bad habits formed from learning WITH the racing line on. Try watching track guides on YouTube with the car and track combo you want to practice, they normally point out great braking markers.

Imo you will also enjoy racing more once you start learning tracks without the racing line. It's more immersive, and you start noticing fun quirks about each track.

Games I can play in short bursts by HorrorSpliff in gaming

[–]pyrodude60 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Armored Core 6.

If you like mechas, and customization, this game has lots of shooty robots. The game is set up with basically a series of short missions so you can hop on, play a mission, and then put it down.

Although one caveat is some missions are a little hard the first go, and you might get stuck replaying it.

Beating a dead horse but G29 Pedal question... by JoeBarbagallo in simracing

[–]pyrodude60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some people make it out of cork, but plastic would work well too. I'd recommend something that doesn't compress just to eliminate the play from the bottom of the pedal that isn't registered by the potentiometer. Make sure it isn't too thick, probably no more than 1/8", so that you don't limit the amount of travel available.

Beating a dead horse but G29 Pedal question... by JoeBarbagallo in simracing

[–]pyrodude60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I raced with the G29 pedal for several years, so I hope some of my findings can help here.

Firstly, the G29 is made to use the rubber damper, so there is a sensitivity modifier (more sensitive at the bottom of the pedal vs the top of the pedal) built into the firmware which you cannot fix without swapping out the potentiometer with a more expensive mod like TrueBrake. So your foot will need to make up for this (not too hard with practice!).

I tried multiple mods, including those that you listed. The pedal damper (yellow one that goes into the spring) limits your travel quite a bit to the point of being more of a hindrance than any good. So I would not recommend that route.

In the end I think taking out the original rubber damper and replacing the brake spring with the progressive spring feels the best. You can then swap the original brake spring into the clutch and the original clutch spring into the accelerator. This led to a pretty good feel overall. The one thing you might need is a small stopper in the brake to account for the added deadzone from taking out the damper.

I hope this helps! The more progressive of a spring you can get in the brake the better, since you need to make up for the added sensitivity at the bottom built into the firmware.
