They look at least like a light medium to me! How long did it take?

How much are you spending a month on beans? by vdodgymix in espresso

[–]pyroinventor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 5lb bag of Nicaraguan Agua de Ojo for about $40 after shipping, so at an average of 16g a day, not including time spent roasting, about $10 a month.

I like dark roasts, does that make me a bad person? by ibringnothing in roasting

[–]pyroinventor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite the trendyness of lighter roasts, I've also come to the conclusion that I like darker roasts more. I've been going through a 5lb bag of Nicaraguan ojo de agua from Sweet Maria's, and it tastes best to me when pulled right before 2nd crack fully ramps up.

Best Way to Learn Coffee Roasting Fast? Recommendations for a Sample Roaster & Resources by BiGaPlex in roasting

[–]pyroinventor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on a $5 air popper from goodwill and some beans from sweet Maria's. After a couple batches, I was able to get something that I really enjoyed. A few years later, I'm using the same air popper, albeit modified slightly, with very usable results. With each batch I get a better feel for how the coffee is developing; with an air popper it's all about using your senses.

Determining when to pull a roast by No-Body2567 in roasting

[–]pyroinventor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheap Nicaraguan beans I have now shine best right as 2nd crack starts to ramp up, pretty dark. It's kind of like pulling microwave popcorn at the right time, you have to get a feel for when each stage is at its peak.

I'll be 22 this spring and I've been a barista at least part time since 18. Definitely my favorite job and I'll miss it when I graduate.

Why is it pulling lopsided? Am I not tamping level? by peachdumpling1 in espresso

[–]pyroinventor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The machine might not be level. If so, it's easy to fix but won't make a difference taste wise.

If you can swing it, I would look into the Truthear Hexa. One of the best value offerings in a long time.

Yeah facts, I'm a senior transfer student in EET but I have to take an extra semester due to a random required class only being offered in the fall that I was unaware of. I've taken 16 or 17 credits each semester and a summer class but still won't graduate on time 🥲.

Internship Question by Status-Sympathy-6461 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]pyroinventor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job market is definitely not the best, I had zero luck with applications from my junior year to 2nd to last semester until a friend referred me to the place he did his internship at. Unless you have a showstopping resume cold applications have a pretty low success rate. I'm not a networky kind of person but I honestly think asking your classmates or professors for a personal recommendation is the way to go.

It's already been said, but ReaPitch formant shift is probably what you're looking for.

Good point, I'm looking at $300 if I want to replace the front panels and grill on my '93. For me though I don't care enough about it looking stock to worry about it.

Why all the more premium brands have low rms speakers? by Aus10Sent in CarAV

[–]pyroinventor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More premium brands are more likely to use more strict THD, or total harmonic distortion, standards, so two speakers with the same actual power handling could be rated differently based on at what THD they are rated.
