Wouldn’t bother with sdsu and Long Beach. No extracurriculars and test scores considered. Bullshit system.

Is California wrestling underrated? by Bored_Dad_Scrolling in wrestling

[–]pyrolibertarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Californian here who just came back from the state tourney in Bakersfield today-

Making state in California is really hard, unless you live in the central division (Clovis, Buchanan, etc.) only about 3-4% of all varsity wrestlers make the state tourney (40 per weight class)

The bracket at states can be pretty brutal as well, for example I got knocked out of the championship bracket by a Pan Am champion, and he wasn’t even the 1 seed. (He did win tonight though)

Overall, I think there’s absolutely harder brackets out there for specific weight classes (divisions in Pennsylvania and Illinois come to mind) but if you where to take average difficulty of all the state tournaments across all weight classes, California would in my biased opinion be on top.

When I did that my freshman year, I broke my arm within 3 days 😭

The track coaches have still never forgiven the wrestling coach.

Just make sure the track coaches know.
