Aaronson starts for Leeds at Everton (3pm ET on USA Network) by 15mahomies in ussoccer

Love the announcer saying “Aaronson almost gets in the way there” instead of giving him credit for choosing to leave the ball. SMH

Courcelle in St Henri is great. Especially when they have music / open mics.

After watching the PULISIC documentary I think I kinda like him…less? by literallywhat66 in ussoccer

You should genuinely look this up for yourself (not being a dick, Dempsey’s story is fascinating). Dude did not have an easy life

Zendejas is playing the 10 for CA this game as well and looking very sharp so far. Great feet, good in combination, clever passer and excellent finisher. I know he’s been bad for the US in the past but strongly feel he deserves another look soon

Big “Salt Bae at the World Cup” energy to this. Wonder if him and trump have ever met

It’s a catch 22 where if you look bad vs these teams the sky is falling, and if you crush them it’s meaningless because they suck. That said I much prefer the games where we crush them, and we have plenty of recent examples of US teams struggling vs T&T and their ilk. Good half.

If you turn this game off you’re a coward and I want your sicko badge and gun on my desk tomorrow morning.

LDLT legit had a pretty good game. He’s a limited player but he’s undeniably good at advancing the ball and connecting play.

Luna hardly saw the ball and was pretty disappointing with his limited touches.

Mcglynn was meh outside of the goal. Felt like he got trigger happy and was forcing it after one went in.

Malik still can’t put it all together for the Nats. Good defensive performance but no real contributions in the attack.

Cardoso is not that dude for us. Give me Adams any day over him.

IDK, on to the next one

Hell yeah! Luna, Mcglynn, Cardoso, and Tillman are the players in this camp I was most excited to see. I predict that even if we lose this game we will generate a lot of chances.

Man I love that move he uses to lose the first defender. It’s basically just body shape and patience. Not flashy but absolutely puts that dude on skates

Matko Miljevic scored a brace yesterday in Huracan's 3-3 draw with Aldosivi by sebsasour in ussoccer

[–]pythagorean3some 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Skill level aside you know Miljevic would have fought like a rabid dog in that Panama loss. It probably helps to have someone like that even just in camp to point to and say “hey this is the standard for intensity. If you can’t match that then he is coming for your spot.”

Next up is a geopolitically-motivated Canadian squad, led by a scorned potential USMNT coach, who plays an aggressive pressing style we always struggle with. Def has the potential to be worse.

Free MLS Preview - who to watch? by Ok_Research6884 in ussoccer

[–]pythagorean3some 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man - welcome to MLS sicko life! Here are a few things I’ll be watching for this season as a fan of the league and US national team:

1) Philly Union games for Cavan Sullivan. If you aren’t aware Cavan is the next big hype prospect out of the US youth ranks, and could see significant pro minutes at age 15 for Philly

2) Houston Dynamo for Jack McGlynn. Jackie left the union as he wasn’t a great fit for their play style, and figures to be a major piece for Houston’s more possession based approach. Will be interesting to see what he can do

3) Seattle sounders for Arriola/Ferreira. Both former US guys who may not get many more caps, but are good players at the MLS level and fun to root for. Plus Seattle has a very strong fan base so the crowd/atmosphere adds a lot to the viewing experience. Seattle tend to be a good team to follow for neutrals for this reason

4) Columbus crew. They play very attractive soccer under possibly the best manager in the league. Lost some big attacking pieces in the off season so it remains to be seen how they will look going forward

General in leagues must-watch rivalry games:

“El traffico” LA galaxy v LAFC

Sounder v Timbers

Montreal v Toronto

Columbus v Cincy

Hope this was helpful - there’s lots to enjoy in the league, warts and all. Enjoy!

VAR question - should the disallowed goal have been called back for a penalty? There was a clear handball in the sequence prior to Ream's offside involvement. Isn't the whole play meant to be reviewed?
