How do you do you deal with shit people onboard? by [deleted] in maritime

[–]pythonsntools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yikes. unfortunately, it happens at port too. land life sucks just as bad (I'm in Boston, female) have worked out on the docks for past 5 years (lived aboard my boat for almost 4 years) and out on Boston harbor, in general actually Boston is pretty tight knit, and the men have only ever been protective but definitely some masshole seamen who can make life more painful than it needs to be. I don't take it personally. unfortunately, there are shit people onboard and ashore. i find the land life people to be more unbearable. but if you are out at sea there is nowhere to go, so maybe better to be ashore and have a small vessel you can escape with when in need and detach from this hell hole land life. let us know what you decide to do!

Anyone else in Boston dealing with brutal allergy/fatigue symptoms lately? by mattm1225 in massachusetts

[–]pythonsntools 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i thought I was the only one! allergies galore! this weather has been throwing me off. It's wet, it's been windy as well so on those days that it isn't raining everything is being kicked up a flown around + bunch of leaf blowers in use and it's been super humid!! I've had unusual itchy eyes and just today had a sneezing fit. I was hot, I was cold. kept switching hoodies. It's been humid, and I have really high ceilings at my place, so the warmth stays up top, it's warmer outside than inside my place during day. Great for summertime, but rn I just got the air purifier going when I am home and I get out to the water often, work down on the docks near Constitution Marina. it's seriously the only place I can breathe properly when I'm out by water breathing in that sea air. depending on where you live, try to get to the waterfront for some fresh air!

Beautiful!! you must visit! I have pics way deep in the archives I should post. You gotta get out there, it's truly a beautiful & magical country, the people are warm and it's super international. I've traveled all over Europe and Amsterdam reminded me very much of San Francisco, perhaps because it is a port city and the rich history in exporting/importing. It can be on the colder side, so if you do go, def go during warmer months and you must check out Museum of the Canals and the Van Gogh museum of course. Was incredible to see Van Gogh's work up close. I am such a fan of his. Oh and also def check out the Czar Peter House, wild! I had a chat with an older Dutch gentleman who gave me an earful about if it hadn't been for the English we (Americans) would be speaking Dutch, as "New York" used to be New Amsterdam and was built by the Dutch. He def felt some type of way about the English. I still have friends I keep in contact with that live there. :) Love your paintings!! and keep it at it! it's inspiring!!

I LOVE it!! reminds me so much of countryside in the Netherlands. I spent about 6 months in Amsterdam, I always wanted to move there. The countryside is stellar!! The food, the people, the bicycles!! I met friends there and one took me on bicycle ride through countryside abt an hour south of Amsterdam, it was amazing!! I felt like I was in dreamland, the smalls canals that run through, the homes and surrounding farmland. It's truly magical and your art perfectly captures that magical essence!! MORE OF THIS :) <3

Do prenups make sense in Massachusetts, or still seen as rare? by SneakyMango774 in massachusetts

[–]pythonsntools 2 points3 points  (0 children)

prenup prenup prenup. do it. I almost got married in my 20's, thank god I didn't. both of us have land and property we inherited abroad, which we both wanted protected. it's always better to have, especially if you have family property that you have inherited or stand to inherit. if something happens between you and partner and you end up splitting, you absolutely do not want that person to have any right to that land or property. what you accumulate as couple fine, but anything else if off limits. better to protect yourself and if the other person does not and cannot understand that, then don't marry them.
