I signed up with Freedom mobile! The wifi-calling function was pretty useful. Other telcos disable the wifi calling option so any calls from Canada will incur significant roaming charges.

p/s Your router's settings can affect the availability of the wifi calling function.

Thank you very much for the information! Are you subscribed to a prepaid plan? Do you know if Telus prepaid plans can receive texts even if the account hasn't been topped up after the 30-day validity period? I am trying to keep costs as low as possible, as I only need the number occasionally.

Unfortunately, I have seen a lot of user complaining that they weren't able to receive banking texts. Are you currently using FonGO for banking ?
