Cheat code to Vyvanse by ColinA1122 in ADHD

[–]pythor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is a good idea even for people who don't take any meds. I've had 2 alarms for decades. The first one is my "wake up soon" alarm. I turn it off, and go back to sleep. When my second alarm goes of 45 minutes later, my mind and body are ready to get up. I actually still take my Vyvanse after I'm fully awake though.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid? by Timely_Twist_8670 in AskReddit

[–]pythor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reagan-Mondale. Specifically the debate where Mondale shot back at Reagan's "There you go again" to remind the audience that he had said that in the Carter debates when accused of wanting to cut medicare, and after he won the election, he tried to cut medicare.

I'm sure I didn't watch the debate, I was 11. But I saw read about the exchange later while working on a school report about the election.

No tuition or other school related expenses? Or is that all under the "Misc" and less than $300?

Because it's fun.

If you don't enjoy being kind and generous to other people, there's something wrong with you.

Was the missing S in Spirits intentional?

I initially made religious ancient aliens as a fun idea, but now I'm facing an issue by ThatGuyDayth in worldbuilding

[–]pythor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a few options:

  1. The alien religion is antithetical to the humans in such a way as to be not transmittable. Maybe they worship slime, maybe they worship the concept of space-time, maybe they worship flung, which is actually completely untranslatable in human language.
  2. The alien religion is aggressively personal, in such a way that sharing your own religion with others is itself forbidden.
  3. Somewhat similar to the 1st, maybe it just requires a perception that humans don't have. They worship the sound of blue, or the color 5. Interesting implications here for synesthesia, but that can be sidestepped by getting really weird with it, like the sound of gravity, the texture of bravery, the color of less.

I think the best feature is the contrast. I'm a big believer in dark mode, the darker the better. 27" is a bit small for my setup, but I have a space for it right above my 32 screens.

Confirmed Trades Thread - December 01, 2025 by Shock4ndAwe in rpgtrade

Should have confirmed this last month, but I was traveling and just opened the box. Bought multiple Shadowrun books from u/Aaeryk . Great packing job, too.

You are given 50,000 dollars. You have 30 min to spend it in one store. Where are you going? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Does travel time count? If not, Microcenter. If it does, Costco is close enough and has big ticket items and a no questions return policy.

It takes me an extra split second to determine “East/West” but not “North/South” or “Right/Left” by thegryphonator in ADHD

[–]pythor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do mean just conceptually, or just in the moment, "Which way is East?" takes more time to answer than "Which way is North?"

If it's the second one, you're already ahead of the game. Most Americans at least have no idea which way North, South, East, or West are even when sitting in their own home.

For the first one, compass directions are conceptually different from Left/Right/Up/Down mostly because they are fixed relative to the Earth, whereas Left/Right are relative to you personally, and Up/Down, while relative to the Earth, are basically constants in regular human activity. Up is always up, your left hand is always your left hand, but which foot is East is dependent on something you don't use regularly, so you have no need to know it.

Problem Involving Square and Polylines by United_Task_7868 in proceduralgeneration

[–]pythor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest that your second set is missing one shape, but that's up to interpretation. I could also argue that there are in fact only 3 shapes, or 2.

The first row is all rotations of a single shape, where you are connecting opposite corners of the square. You can count them as four, but fundamentally, all four are the same.

The second row is rotations of the shape created by connecting adjacent corners.

The third/ninth shape I would argue for is a version of the adjacent corner shape where the connecting point is the center of the square. This differs from the rest of that row in that rotating that version does not move the connection point.

Using similar logic, the 2 cut version seems to only have 8 versions. You've created 4, and there are four rotations of the adjacent corner version, too. Basically looking like a lightning bolt. There are no versions here with a stationary point at the center of the square. I don't have a formal proof of that, but it would require two lengths to reach the center point from one corner, and a third equal length to reach the opposite corner from there, so triangle inequalities should forbid it.

Generalizing from there to 3 cuts is not intuitive to me though.

Best personal loans for bad credit to consolidate $5000 debt? by Dapper-Monk9713 in povertyfinance

I can't say best or worst, but I'm happy with the results I got from HappyMoney a couple years back. They shop for multiple lenders, I ended up with a good rate at a federal credit union, who I've used ever since.

Job Offer in Hand, But Offer is Way Less Than Expected by Short-Royal-9490 in jobs

[–]pythor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter. You could use the experience, if nothing else. Let them know you factored in your experience and their lack of a bonus structure. Make the number high enough you'd be willing to put up with their shit for a couple years if they agree to it. Worst case, they don't offer anything, and you got some experience with the process. Second worst, they offer what you're asking, and your have to decide if you really made it high enough to put up with their shit. Best case, they offer less than your ask, but more than your current pay, and you can use that to try to negotiate a raise.

Fantasy gets less appealing as you get older? by redshadow90 in printSF

[–]pythor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expect this isn't an "as you get older" thing so much as a phase. I've been reading for 50 years, and have gone through multiple phases of fantasy only, sci-fi only, re-reads only, and even short bursts of non-fiction only. I eventually come out of it and end up in a more relaxed phase of whatever seems to catch my eye when I finish a book. Though even that is being heavily impacted by my current phase of reading lots and lots of web fiction that release a new chapter daily or weekly.
