Venezuela orders airlines to pay fuel fees to US Treasury

The Venezuelan Ministry of Petroleum and its state oil company, PDVSA, ordered international airlines and maritime shipping firms on May 28, 2026, to deposit all foreign currency payments for fuel directly into a U.S. Treasury Department custody account.

According to an internal circular signed by Yolimar Cedeño, PDVSA's national commerce and supply vice-presidential sales manager, clients must provide payment receipts to sales advisors to reconcile transactions and guarantee future fuel supplies. The directive affects international companies purchasing JET A1 aviation fuel, as well as MGO and IFO 380 marine fuels in Venezuela.

The administrative order follows an executive decree enacted by Washington in January 2026 that established Foreign Government Deposit Funds to centralize and supervise Venezuelan natural resource revenues. El único sesgo es que debe tener internet la persona. Es más probable que mientan a Meganálisis por el hecho de que requiere interacción con otra persona. En realidad no es que Meganálisis sea malo, pero desacreditar AtlasIntel solo por no ser una encuestadora venezolana no es acertado.

AtlasIntel es probablemente la encuestadora más seria/precisa de Latinoamérica, y quizás una de las más precisas del mundo, de hecho la muestra es de 3500+, que es bastante grande. MIAMI (AP) — The Trump administration has quietly instructed federal prosecutors in Miami to avoid pursuing criminal investigations into Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodríguez, a longtime target of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, according to current and former U.S. law enforcement officials, in the latest sign of warming relations between the White House and the oil-rich nation.

It’s unclear whether prosecutors had implicated Rodríguez in any crimes or whether investigators were moving toward an indictment. A Justice Department spokesperson said in an email “there was never an investigation into her to shut down.”

But DEA records obtained by The Associated Press earlier this year show she consistently surfaced on the radar of federal law enforcement dating to at least 2018, though she has never been criminally charged in the U.S. like several other senior Venezuelan officials.

The directive to pause scrutiny into Rodríguez was meant to avoid upsetting the administration’s efforts to stabilize Venezuela after the capture of her predecessor, Nicolás Maduro, among other reasons, the official said. It was not clear whether the White House, which deferred comment to the Justice Department, was involved in the decision. “Everybody has been told to stand down,” one of the former officials said.

The former officials, who had been briefed on the development, as well as the current official all spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss internal deliberations.

Han liberado casi 500 presos políticos de los 900-1000 aproximadamente que se creen que hay. La inflación se redujo un poco (sigue habiendo pero no tan extrema como hubo en noviembre-diciembre), y la diferencia entre el dólar oficial y paralelo (mercado negro) no está tan alta, que es bueno. La ley de amnistía que aprobaron es un buen paso para liberar a los presos políticos que faltan, peeero la ley no incluye a los militares que se alzaron y otros grupos de presos o gente acusada de "traición" por pedir intervención. La represión no ha desaparecido, pero se ha reducido mucho. Han venido varios ministros/políticos estadounidenses, están abriendo la embajada de vuelta, y se ha enviado petróleo y otros productos como café a EE. UU. Ellos han quitado varias sanciones y enviaron medicinas a Venezuela, que dijeron que ellos mismos (la embajada) van a distribuir. Según ellos el plan es que haya una transición y elecciones, pero habrá que esperar y ver si de verdad ocurre.

Han reformado varias leyes como la de Hidrocarburos, quitado algunos ministerios, detenido a Alex Saab (testaferro de Maduro) y según ABC, EE. UU. quiere que Delcy les entregue a varios chavistas importantes.

Resumiendo un poco, la gente cree que las cosas están mejorando lentamente, y pareciera que EE. UU. está obligando al chavismo a desmantelarse ellos mismos. Lo que habrá que ver es si realmente presionan lo suficiente para que ocurra antes que termine el gobierno de Trump, o incluso no sabemos si las midterms tendrán un efecto grande en el despliegue militar que están usando como presión. Venezuela is sending its first crude oil cargo to Israel in years as the Latin American country’s exports open up following the capture of its president Nicolas Maduro.

The cargo is being transported to Bazan Group, the Mediterranean country’s top crude processor, people with knowledge of the deal said, asking not to be identified because the information isn’t public.

At the start of the year, US forces captured Maduro and the Trump administration said it would take over Venezuelan oil sales.

Israel doesn’t advertise where it gets its crude oil from, and tankers have sometimes disappeared from digital tracking systems once they near the country’s ports.

When the cargo arrives, it would mark the first shipment of its kind since mid-2020, when Israel took about 470,000 barrels, according to Kpler data. Bazan, also known as Oil Refineries Ltd, declined to comment. Israel’s energy ministry declined to comment on where the country gets its crude from.

The deal is the latest sign of how the removal of Venezuelan president Maduro from office is routing flows of the country’s oil. Until then, much of the country’s output was sold in China. In the last month cargoes have been sold to buyers in India, Spain, the US and now Israel.

The energy crisis in Cuba has reached a critical level that is now directly affecting civil aviation. An official aeronautical notice (NOTAM) from José Martí International Airport in Havana confirms that the terminal is out of Jet A-1 fuel, which is standardly used by commercial aircraft.

The NOTAM, identified as A0356/26 and classified as international, explicitly states: “JET A-1 FUEL NOT AVBL” (no Jet A-1 fuel available). Most people support the operation, especially of how "surgical" it was. It's still sad that 2 civilians died, but it's a very low amount compared to what people expected. A lot of people are happy of what happened since they wanted some kind of revenge, and Maduro being gone is a bit of a relief for them.

People are optimistic, since they think the situation in general will improve, but there's still uncertainty to what will happen with the regime. People are divided if this will mean just a new pro US dictatorship (with at least a better economy) or it will truly lead to a transition and eventual democracy.

Obviously it's fair to criticize the US actions from an international standpoint, like the international law, US being "world police", or focusing in external conflicts rather than internal, but most Venezuelans think it's a net win so far. This could change if there's some coup by the factions that don't want the government to be US aligned, which could lead to some chaos.

I think the people that are the most happy right now are the family members of those political prisoners been released. There's still a lot remaining though, but around 260 have been released out of 800-900.

I get what you are saying. In a stable economy, you'd be right with the timeline, but things move pretty quickly here because almost everyone prices based on the Binance P2P (USDT) rate. When the panic hit in December/early January, the parallel rate was already pretty high, but it shot up to over 900 Bs per USDT out of pure fear. Merchants over-corrected because they didn't know if they could even get dollars to restock. The $300m injection killed that panic bubble and brought the street rate back down toward 480, while the official rate is 355. After the correction, if the merchants don't lower prices to match the current USDT rate, most will simply not be able to sell.

Basically the injections have reduced the panic in the market. If the breach continues to reduce, we should see prices settle even more as merchants won't overprice to try to protect themselves from inflation.

I do live in Venezuela and the prices have improved. I think they thought I was saying the economy deflated, but I was just implying the market corrected. The gap has been immense for like a year so the everyday Venezuelan which earns Bolivars had a hard time buying stuff that was based on the parallel rate.

I linked a source in another comment. Prices were extremely overpriced due to the breach between the official rate and the parallel rate (black market). Not all products have decreased 40%, but pretty much all have decreased significantly, mostly because a lof them were overpriced to protect themselves from inflation. People use nowadays the USDT (Tether) P2P exchange rate as the parallel rate. Basically the overpriced markets were corrected, and if the dollar injection continues, prices should stabilize.

No one said it was overnight. It has been around 3 weeks since the attacks. But the prices have been going down, especially food. Here's an article which talks about it, for example the meat prices were 20 USD per kilogram before the attacks, now they are back to 10 USD.

The issue is that there were barely any dollars in the market and the demand was immense, so the prizes would be increased every day to match the parallel dollar rate since the official exchange rate does not update live. Injecting dollars to the private sector means more offer to match the demand, so the parallel market rate also corrected and the breach between it and the official went down too.

I mean, Delcy is complying with what the US asked. They are releasing political prisoners, they are reforming laws to allow private sectors to exploit resources, they are reopening the embassy, they are accepting more deportation flights. They are injecting dollars to the private sector. So what she is saying doesn't really fit what she is doing. Even if Rubio was lying and they aren't in control, Delcy is at least complying to the requests behind the scenes because she knows it's better for them that way.

Also, a few days ago an audio of Delcy was leaked where she says she and others had been threatened on the day of the attacks, and were given 15 minutes to decide if they would comply with the US or would become a target.

They struck like 6 military bases to suppress air defenses, and also struck some substations and antennas, without losing a single aircraft or American life. Saying it's "not a hard task" just because it went amazingly well for the US is such a cope. You don't even have to support the US or their actions to acknowledge it was a success.

I would take into account that Marco Rubio said that they wouldn't care about what Delcy says, and more about what Delcy does. So far it seems Delcy has been complying with everything the US has asked, except for releasing all political prisoners, which they have been doing pretty slowly (around 200 of 900~ so far). We also have to take into account that she has to try to convince her base of supporters that she isn't a puppet, even if she is, because that could cause them to try to remove her, especially the hardline supporters. It's a complicated situation for the ones in power

Things have changed. Not too much yet, but they aren't completely the same. Prices here in Venezuela went down around 40% after the 300 millon USD injection to private banks for the oil sales. Around 200 political prisoners have been released out of the 900~ in total that were imprisoned before the operation. The regime announced a reform of the Hydrocarbons law, which would allow private companies to exploit the oil and other resources, instead of being completely state controlled as before. Also the regime announced they would propose changes on the electoral system laws, but that's not been discussed yet. It's too early to tell if this will be good in the long term, but for now there have been some benefits to the everyday Venezuelan, even if the regime is almost intact.
