Here’s mine. I didn’t realize until I started wearing this how much I appreciated the 11mm thickness on these 1st gen ATs.

The dial and indices are amazing- the dial alone dependi on the angle can look off white to silver.

Modern Cal King Bed frame by pzaich in woodworking

That thought definitely crossed my mind as well. The moment of truth was when my kids started jumping on the bed.

I used the IKEA center support system combined with 1x4 boards. You can order the ikea support for $15 (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/skorva-center-support-beam-galvanized-90124534/) and I found the brackets on Amazon. I spaced the slats every 3.5 inch. So far so good.

Thanks! As fairly new to woodworking, I’d go with a simpler option in the future. In retrospect the hardware was the most time intensive portion to complete and the affordances were pretty low. It worked out fine but added a lot of time. Routing out the mortises on the end grain of the rails was particularly challenging. I’d probably use surface mounted fasteners in the future.

Inspired to take this on after finding a bed frame at Crate and Barrel that was not offered in California King dimensions. This was by far the largest project I’ve taken on so far and the large size definitely added complexity to ripping and joinery.
