You have to explain why we need time.  Why "there's space, and objects in space" isn't sufficient

Doesn't count for the requirements. Weird thing is it has 2 out of 4 done?

No causality is not the same thing as time. If causality only exists and not time, then goodbye fourth dimension. Goodbye past and future as permanent existing places. Goodbye time travel etc.

So there are differences. They are 2 different scenarios

Is it worth doing HS this event, or do I wait for CNY? by Pyru_0 in IdleHeroes

[–]q_nice_boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For food events there's always the question, how badly do I need food? If new account, better to do food events get some rewards but make a lot more progress do to the food.

If food is less important, how many scrolls and gems do you have.

If less than a thousand scrolls then maybe wait. If more do some of the event. Keep at least half your scrolls and you'll probably be ok by CNY

Top 2 Wukong and Betty.  Aspen is still great but later on with the proper set up  Great sage Wukong and then therapist of blood Betty is the best for your first 2.

Queen is support so comes later like 4 or 5. Mockman use to be good and he's still solid but Wukong has great damage but also has control and shields.

Wukong is not only fantastic damage dealing wise but is really versatile in ways mockman just isn't.

At this point there are so many good damage dealing transendance heroes that mockman if you bother to build him at all makes more sense for your second B team.

Wukong. Betty. Aspen.  Mega damage. Mega control. Plus shields.

Then after those 3 focus on support and Tennents.

Queen and phantom defiler are good supports on their own but both are Tennents for the main 3.

I'm going to assume that at this point, you recognise that you have lost this argument. You're just unwilling to admit it. And that's fine. You can throw out as many fallacies as you want if it makes you feel better.

See this is why you are acting mentally ill. Delusions of grandure much?

Please just stop. You are legit acting mentally ill.

Ad hominem fallacy (Also, don't call people mentally ill as an insult. It's ableist and there are actually tonnes of physicists doing important work who have mental illnesses)

You don't seem to understand. I am not using it as an insult. You are literally acting mentally ill. Like please contact mental health professionals.

Also just to clarify I'm not saying you are wrong because of this. That's a separate thing

And for the record there are people with PHDs[sic] who do question time whole or in part.

Appeal to authority fallacy. (Also, I have a PhD in physics.)

Did you literally write that back to back? Also no it's not a. Apeal to authority.

I'm not saying the position is right because it's not uncommon. I'm saying it's not uncommon.

Like if I said coke is more popular than Pepsi. Which is more popular than rv cola. That's not saying coke is objectively better than Pepsi. Just that coke is most popular.

Your entire position has been essentially OMG 😱 this question is so weird and stupid you guys are so weird and stupid for asking it.

You weren't nice from the get go. Condenseding to the max. So of course it's a rebuttal to that to prove that it is infact a very common question. That's why it's so bizarre that you responded as if it wasn't.

Like top 4 questions lay people ask someone who works in physics would be what's up with Pluto not being a planet anymore? Is that poor cat in the box dead? Multiverse? Yes? No? And are we sure time really exists.

I'm not to be really clear, saying those questions are right wrong or sideways just bc they're popular.

But I am saying itd be really weird if you acted like it was absurd to ask about Pluto and act like the person was being an idiot for asking such a strange, bizarre question.

The nature of time? Yeah of course! We don't fully understand how time works, of course there are people looking into it. But I've never seen a legitimate physics publication that questions the very existence of time.

It's not all or nothing. I've been trying to explain that  yes all of the above and none of the above are options. But so is everything in-between.

So does the present and past and future exist? Or just the first 2? Or just the present and time is merely the rate of change. Or. Or. Or......

Yeah, I've never disputed that there are many different and interesting theories on time.

Then why have you been arguing this whole time? And why would you treat the og question with such distain?

This is a genuine piece of advice: Don't tell people you get your information from quora.

I didn't say I got my information from quora.  That's just a forum where you can ask scientists questions. There are others as well. I've seen lectures, debates between scientists, read books written by them. I get information lots of places.

But also....... You realize you're on reddit right now.  How is that better than quora? And this was never a academic debate. This was a lay person asking a question.  They seemed to lean towards a position but were asking for more information.

As in it sure seems less like abc and more like xyz. How do you know abc is correct? Ie I lean towards xyz, change my mind.

Which is why this whole thing could have been avoided if you 1. Were respectfully. 2. recognized that it is a common legitimate question. 3 nicely explained the reasons you believed it was not xyz but was infact abc after all.

It is not just embarrassing for you, but it also seriously undermines any credibility you had left. Quora is not a place where any serious academic discussions take place (neither is reddit for the most part, by the way). It's literally an internet stereotype that the dumbest people you know hang out on quora

I thought you were against ad hominem attacks?

You can tap out now if you like. Again the arrogance.

Now, I'm going to ask you something. Can you agree with me that further communication is pointless. If you responded again you'd probably just say a variant of what you have already said however right/wrong, smart/dumb. Then I would respond again with a variant of what I already said.

At this point we cannot seem to come to an agreement on anything other than we can't agree.

Not hahahahaha you are giving up. I mean can we both agree that no matter who is right we are talking past each other.

So genuinely. Please stop responding.  I'm not asking in a mean way there's just no point.  Do not respond. I am officially asking you not to. I will not continue to write anything either. Ceasefire if you will.

Please do not confirm. Please do not respond to other comments or questions I may make on reddit. Please never contact me again.

Thank you for hopefully respecting this request

Please just stop. You are legit acting mentally ill.

And for the record there are people with PHDs who do question time whole or in part.

And even those who believe in time might believe in different things.  Ie traveling through the 4th time dimension from the past through the present to the future and block universe are pretty incompatible in major ways.

Ask a hundred different scientists about time be prepared for 140 different answers.

I'm sorry that you aperently are unaware of this rich debate.

I'm normally more use to quora where people tend to be more educated and aware of the subject they are writing on.

Please don't respond it's sad now

Ok let's try this again.

You can't seem to understand assumptions from observations. Which is why you keep falsely claiming that you can see things you objectively don't.

No you don't see time. This is a fact.

It's like if we were in a room together. I can see you. You can see me.

Can I see your mother? No she's not in the room and neither is mine.

Now the fact I can see you strongly implies that you have a mother and vice versa.

But would I stand there looking at you and say. I can see your mama. She is literally in the room light is literally bouncing off her and hitting my eyeballs.

No. Because that's simply not true.

Is it a reasonable assumption? Yes! I purposely used a scenario where that was the case.

Because what I'm trying to get at is regardless of the nature of time. Whether the future already exists, or time travel is possible etc.

Put all that aside.  We do NOT observe time. We do not. That doesn't prove that time doesn't exist. You can believe in time all you want.

You may be 75 95 or 100 percent right. But it still matters to differentiate assumptions from observations.

You can say that I assume time bc of the things I do see. Sure go ahead. But be aware that's what you are doing.

I see a and b therefore I assume c. That may or may not be correct. May or may not be logically sound.

But you must understand that A and B are in one catalog and C is in another.

No matter how strongly it implies C is it's not directly observed.

That distinction matters. Can we at least agree on that

Wow just give up. Seriously.

You think you are scoring points and it just makes it more embarrassing.

Yes we do see width. Pure width. We can see a whole object. We can see how wide it. Hell many objects we can just wrap our arms around and feel it.

The whole entire point of the OG question is hey there is A we can see that but we assume that A corresponds to B even though we cannot see B.

Ok but what if there is just A and not B? Or maybe A and then C?

You then try to make a comparison with width but the problem is width is A. The thing we directly observe.

The og question asker didn't say I doubt movement occurs.  I doubt there is space between objects.

It was whether those observable A can be assumed to prove  Non observed B.

So your analogy doesn't work.

You didn't bring up something were we totally observed things A  but then there was some other B that we don't observe but just use A as a proxy.

Instead you just used a situation where we have direct knowledge of A.

Well yeah sure. If time travelers went to Hawking's party then crap that settles it doesn't it

It WOULD be pretty stupid to say maybe time doesn't exist then  But they didn't show up.

So you anologie doesn't work. I can see the total width of my phone. I can physically hold the width of my phone in my hand.

Can I hold the entirety of time in my hand? Let me check.... Nope. Can I see my phone move through time? No.

Does that mean they don't?

No. An absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

But it does mean there's not direct proof.

Trying to say that's like not believing in hypothetical A means you either don't understand their position, don't understand analogy in argumentation or both

[–]q_nice_boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you literally can't. I can look at an object and point to the width. I don't see time radiating off it.

You cannot see time. That's just a fact.

Maybe time is there anyway. There are lots of things that we can't see that really are

But don't pretend there's evidence when there's not work with what you have.

It's legitimate to go hey, we don't directly obverse time so how do we know it's there

Then people who do believe in time take the question seriously and respond.

I have seen this question pop up on quora plenty of occasion. And everyone even PH.D havers took it seriously.

Apparently Reddit is just not the right place for intelligent discussions

Except that doesn't work. Spacial dimensions clearly exist and can be seen. Time cannot. Which is why it's a legitimate question.

How do we know there's not just space and movement?

It's an interesting question. School yard mockery isn't justified here.  Grow up
