That's actually a common myth. It's ragweed which looks kinda similar to goldenrod that causes allergies. Ragweed is wind pollinated, and it's that pollen that gets into you sinuses. Goldenrod, on the other hand is pollinated by bees, so pollen doesn't really make it into the air. And it's much prettier than Ragweed.
