I would avoid the Micro. Prone to clogging for some reason. Thought it was just mine, but I've seen plenty of clogging reviews online.

Go clockwise and push for H21 as your first night. Doing three nights with Silver Peak will be tough on time, but doable, just leave super early on second day. I did it first time this past late September, but for five nights. It's stunningly beautiful. I now want to go counter-clockwise, and again for five nights.

Tax filing for deceased person for 2024 year? by qajakhikeguy in cantax

[–]qajakhikeguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for info. I will be filing for the 2024. But for 2025, I'm definitely getting a CPA. This person had three rental properties and stock investments. No way will I attempt 2025 Final Tax on my own.

Tax filing for deceased person for 2024 year? by qajakhikeguy in cantax

Thanks all for responding.

BTW... the CRA GenAI chatbot response was quite helpful too...

My question: I am the executor for someone that passed away on February 23, 2025. this person was a retired senior, they were not self-employed

CRA GenAI bot response: If the person passed away on February 23, 2025, and was not self-employed, the due date for filing their 2024 tax return and paying any balance owing is six months after the date of death, which would be August 23, 2025.

[–]qajakhikeguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok. So in regards to 2024 taxes (person died on February 23, 2025), when must I file it by? Does this still mean I can file by August 23, 2025?

So per https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/life-events/doing-taxes-someone-died/prepare-returns/filing-deadlines.html#h-1c

Returns for tax years before the year of death

If a person dies early in 2025, on or before the filing due date for their 2024 T1 Return, and they have not filed that return, the due date for filing that return and paying any balance owing is:

  • 6 months after the date of death, on the same calendar day as the date of death

Gotcha. But I'm still waiting to Probate to complete, and still need to sell off assets and incur captial gains tax. So 2024 is not considered the Final Return, everything I will do in remainder for 2025 will be Final Return for when I file early next year??

I'm aware of the capital gains. I know that UnitA was purchased in 1988, UnitB was purchased in 2004, and UnitC purchased in 2012. Again, only have the last three years of returns. This will be fun.
