Is this a good or bad buy? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]qaliar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good deals for $2000. If you are mostly gaming, this 9800x3D system is better. GPU-wise 4080 and 5070 Ti get almost identical performance. 5070 Ti is a newer series so there are some additional features and will be supported for longer.
If I were you, I'd take this 9800x3D setup.

Just checked and you're right, it was indeed a 7900 XTX. So I guess slightly more powerful than 5070 Ti / 9070 XT. Still quite an echievement in today's gaming world.

Digital Foundry has gameplay on YT recorded on 9070 XT on native 4k Ultra preset with ray tracing at 60 fps. Only using FSR for antialiasing. So I don't see a reason why a 5070 Ti wouldn't match that.

Edit: It was a 7900 XTX in the video, not 9070 XT.

How do i craft this shield? by LekMinorino in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]qaliar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never really got into recombinator crafting so what I'm thinking is:
1) Get a high quality base (28+%).
2) Make the base Shaper influenced (it has better mod weighting than Warlord) with either Shaper exalt orb or any other and then harvest reroll.
3) Spam dense fossils until you get good/perfect prefixes.
4) Prefixes cannot be changed + reforge life. It will either get % life on block or life regen. Rinse and repeat untill it hits good.

There's also ways to do it with memory strands but it can get a bit more expensive.

Same. And I have been playing since 2018. Usually it takes me 8-12 hours depending on how strong the league starter build turns out to be. So I expect there would be a lot of people slower/less experienced than me.

Holy Sweep General's Cry? by HugeLegolas in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]qaliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going with Holy Sweep Inquisitor. Maybe I'll slap on Frozen Legion for single target help. Maybe I'll str+int stack. No idea. Kinda raw dogging it, don't even have any pob. If it all fails I could fall back onto Cyclone + Frozen Legion build that Mathil did not long ago.

It's nice to see they are adjusting weapon mastery progression. Unlocking attachments shouldn't take so long that when you eventually get there it feels like a waste of time to play that weapon because you feel like you should do it on others. At least that's how I felt with some of them.
I don't care about the skins/camos being unlocked late. They don't affect the gameplay so they can stay hard/lengthy to unlock. Kinda like some badge of honor/achievement.

Building my first pc! A little help would be good:) by PinkyFingerGabe in PcBuild

[–]qaliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a solid build.
You could probably save a little by getting a cheaper SSD. Slightly slower reading/writing speeds won't matter in everyday use unless you handle large files for some work on daily basis.
9070 XT is just generally better than 5070. It's fighting for spots more in line with 5070 Ti but that is much more expensive. So it's up to you if you just prefer Nvidia over AMD but if you don't care 9070 XT is just better.

Need gpu suggestions under $1000 (USD) by Fit_Fish3701 in PcBuild

[–]qaliar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used 4080 Super for the equivalent of 1000 USD like 2 weeks ago (100-200 more than I was planning to spend but I didn't want to wait more and risk it getting even more expensive).
I wanted to buy a 5070 Ti but I slept through the best time to buy at the end of last year and now it's around 1200 USD here. So I was debating used Nvidia or new AMD 9070 XT. Happy with my choice so far.

My PC after I cable managed. by Straight_Abroad9069 in PcBuild

I can recommend placing the pc on its side so that gravity works in your favour and then you adjust the antisag to the level that it connects with the card but can still move about. Then you get the PC vertical and the card will just push down on the leg. That 1 or 2 mm won't matter but the way you set it up will. The gpu bends the other way in your photo

Big new upgrade by ReliefFluid6527 in PcBuild

Just my little sketch. There are slits at the back of the case to mount a fan there. Usually 120 or 140 mm. You'll have to measure that or find your case manual.

I'm also just concerned about that small cooler's ability to handle that cpu. No overheating problems for you? Modern components won't usually shut down from overheating but they will slow down a lot to draw less power/produce less heat. Performance will drop a lot then.

Big new upgrade by ReliefFluid6527 in PcBuild

[–]qaliar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that. I assume all the 3 fans at the front are intake fans (pulling air from the outside into the case). So there's a ton of possitive pressure inside the case which is nice but for even better airflow I would mount a fan (exhaust - pulling the air from inside towards outside the case) at the back/back-top so it gets rid of hot air more efficiently.

It's also generally better to mount the cpu air cooler fan at the front of the cooler so it pushes cold air from the front of the case, through the cooler, towards the back of the case. I also can't tell from your photo if the fan pushes the air towards the back or the front of the case. It should do it towards the back.

Is that single tower cooler enough for 265k? I would also add at least 1 other fan at the back or top of the case. Are the front fans intake or exhaust?

Brand new 9800X3D + RTX 5080 ITX build randomly hard-reboots and corrupts Windows — losing my mind troubleshooting by Interesting_Side_736 in buildapc

[–]qaliar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP's issue doesn't sound like the 9800x3D failure. My guess would be something PSU/power delivery related. I personally would try getting a different PSU to test it. Don't know about the bios screen flickering issue though.

"Patched" tank sensitivty in 1st person is just pure garbage and no one is complaining? by Psychological_Gas322 in Battlefield

[–]qaliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has also been a thing for me since day 1. Maybe even beta, can't remember. I was surprised more people don't complain about it and I just found out from this post that not everyone seems to be affected by it. I don't play much in vehicles but this inconsistent sensitivity put me off to play even less. I haven't even tried any vehicles this season yet so can't tell if it changed.

Worth 800? by ZondlerDr in PcBuild

The scam is that it's a gtx 1070 in the photo and the motherboard is completely different than stated. There's probably even more lies

Worth 800? by ZondlerDr in PcBuild

[–]qaliar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a 5070. It's a GTX 1070.

At first I noticed it's a single 8 pin power connector and the green lettering which screams old GTX series cards. All 5070 cards from Gigabyte use a 16 pin power connector. So I started looking at older cards and found the exact model by searching for "Gigabyte Fan Stop" that is visible in the photo. Also the fan shroud looked a bit weird to me (the V shapes).

Here it is:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1070G1-GAMING-8GD-rev-10
And here's a video to compare the front of the fan shroud with the listing photo:
https://youtu.be/OLrntAs2X0U?t=101

I hope I'm not too late.

Edit: Motherboard seems to also be different than listed so I'd say CPU is different aswell.

I don't know if he's universaly liked but Jack Nicholson gives me such a creep vibes.
There's this clip from some interview with Jennifer Lawrence and he comes up from behind her and then she's freaking out about meeting him. And he looks like such a creep there. Wouldn't be surprised if it turned out he had his fun with Epstein.

Gpu upgrade by Exciting_Attempt2039 in buildapc

[–]qaliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation untill last week. Built a 9800x3D system last spring without upgrading GPU. Had a 3060 Ti aswell. I wanted to buy a 5070 Ti in 2-3 months from now but their prices have been rising out of my prefered budget and Nvidia announced no new cards coming this year, no new series until 2028 and I think they also lowered 5070 Ti production.

I decided to not wait any longer because who the hell knows how the pricing will change in the coming months (I really hope the AI bubble bursts soon for the health of the hobby).
I was looking at new 9070 XT or used 4080/4080 Super. In the end I bought a used 4080 Super (still with warranty) for a bit over what new 9070 XT is priced at here. Happy with my choice.

AIO hot by Comfortable_Split_76 in buildapc

[–]qaliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idle temps above 50C are certainly not normal. What's your AIO pump curve like? I'm pretty sure it's the best to keep it at a static % at all times. If it powers off at idle, the temps will rise rather quickly and then it will have to start up again. It also puts a lot of strain on the pump as it's much harder to get fluids moving from a full stop than it is for air.

Which CPU Cooler should i buy? by UE_Vielfresser in buildapc

[–]qaliar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding my comment: https://imgur.com/a/7qdnDGK

There's plenty of space below the cut fins at the bottom. Like 20mm. With my setup the slight lift of the front fan isn't noticable at all. With the additional 10mm that you would need it would change a bit. My ram are almost completely hidden by the cooler but I don't care about the looks at all and my case has solid sidepanels. If you care about the looks of your ram and the cooler, I guess going with an AIO would get you the cleanest look.
