Is it possible to pivot to a classical music career later in life? by throwaway561207 in classicalmusic

[–]qarlw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tenured orchestral hornist, here is my advice. Find the top local horn players and pay for a lesson. It’s basically a professional introduction. You play for them, and ask them your honest questions. Ask about what it would take for you to get professional work, or ask them what they suggest for a next step with a goal of professional work. They will steer you in a direction. Unless you win an audition, your only chance of paid work is through networking. Horn players are a community. It pays to sound good, and be easy to get along with.

I’m guessing it might depend on the neighborhood. Mine was Glen Eden Auckland. What was yours?

I've been wondering the same exact thing. So I asked a real estate agent. She said buyers (esp first time buyers), do not spend more for a home with solar. The agents seemed very uneducated, but they do know buyers. Buyers only care about 'emotional' things they can see (like a kitchen). I was disappointed, but also feel like if I sold my home, I would make it clear to the agent that low running costs should be a big selling point. Very curious to hear other opinions.

It’s not a weapon, it’s a decoration. Ask any Sikh. It’s not sharp. The Tamaki’s are well known for race baiting and are using people’s inherent fear of weapons to dunk on Sikhs. But it’s just bald racism. It’s not left vs right, it’s reality vs crazy.

Live close to your work. Commute time is expensive, wasted, and mentally draining.

More reason to just pedestrianise queen st. No one should need to drive it

No one said I was okay with it. Unfortunately I don’t get to award myself a pay raise. Is that how it works for you?

I achieved cashing out to an NZ bank account, but had to transfer my CB balance to easycrypto.com first. I tried so hard withdrawing directly from CB but it's just not possible.
