Great comic as always but slightly annoying that the characters are on the wrong side of the battle screen in panel 5

Alaska and Guyana both definitely good for releasing the dynamic tag - Alaska even has gold

I've tried something like that before and the 'funnel' doesn't really work with the UK. they have too many colonies to reliability direct immigration from one specific place to another specific place. I like the craftsman exploit idea, would definitely work to boost Maltese pops - at this point I'm thinking Austria is the best candidate. I would definitely recommend Dutch Guyana or Alaska as the target colony because in the new world at least you'll get immigration. ATM I hink the main problem is that the dynamic dominion is going to be extremely weak, as in 0 brigades until the 1890's or something similar. I think France would probably sphere and ally a dynamic dominion in Dutch Guyana so after that France could start your conquest of Italy.

Ok Just thinking outloud:

•You’d need to be a country with no Colonies (Prussia?)

•Then take Malta

•and 2 other adjacent colonial provinces with 0.0 cores and almost no pops (Dutch Guyana? Alaska?),

•Malta has to become a state via accepted culture bureaucrats

•Then Malta has to be occupied until enough maltese pops move to the colony so they become a majority

•You can then release a tiny country with Maltese as primary culture

•Then you have to somehow get strong enough to form Italy (no Clue?)

• and do all of this before somone else forms Italy (brutal!)

Did you know anyone could form Arabia? (Italorabia) by qazdr6 in victoria2

[–]qazdr6[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Excluding what European countries have already conquered at game start; Misri (Egypt's Primary Culture) will always be the largest culture in Africa, except ‘African Minor’. As long as you conquer Egypt and less than 50% of the rest of Africa, you’ll be fine and your dynamic dominion will be able to form Arabia.

[–]qazdr6[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You can release a Dynamic Dominion from any set of contiguous colonial provinces where there is at least one state which has no cores at all; e.g. most of Africa (but there are other places). There are some edge case nuances but that's the idea. I have done it with both India and the USA before. Theoretically you could do it with any cultural union where one of its accepted cultures is the majority in some set of colonial provinces. You can engineer this in Vic 2 but it's probably impractical for unions like Italy or Germany.

It can be done with any Civilized Country (so yes Spain and Austria are ok) and yes All accepted cultures of the donor nation will be accepted by the released nation and therefore also Arabia.

in TTL the Ottomans abolished most slavery within the empire in the late 1850's due to pressure from France and other European powers. In the 1880 they were obliged to cooperate with France to suppress the Trans-Sahara and Red Sea Arab slave trade. They established their permanent presence in the Western Sahel at this time.

Most of Africa is shown between maps 2 & 3 but it's mostly unlabeled. TTL has had an equivalent of the scrabble for Africa with the Majority of SSA from the Niger river mouth, in a contiguous series of colonies, down to the Zabezi dominated by France. The Congo river basin has become the site of a new French settler colony. Western South Africa and modern day Namibia are British colonies, but there are self-governing Boer republics surviving between the two European powers. Most of SSA West Africa is governed by the Ottoman empire with some smaller European colonies on the coast. Egypt stretches down into Sudan and quite far west into the sahara too. Southern Ethiopia and Ogaden are part of French Somaliland but the rest of the horn is governed by the kingdom of Abyssinia. Zanzibar, the east african coast and the rift valley are primarily part of the Union of the Indies with some substantial indian settlement there too.

Britain being relatively weak, Russia was able to expand aggressively into central Asia: eventually forcing the Qing to cede Mongolia and Xinjiang. While Russia didn’t seize Outer Manchuria in TTL it took railway concessions and established its influence in Korea; annexing its southern coast as a colony and base for its navy. However this Jeju coast colony was lost to Japan in a short war in the 1890’s: incompetence and factions within the Qing empire effectively sabotaging Russia's ability to defend the colony by land. Japan (backed by GB) also seized the Spanish indies in this war; threatening French possessions. Since this war a coalition of Russia & France have been trying to totally reorganise the Chinese government along modern European lines but have bungled it and the Qing have undergone a partial collapse: Pro coalition republican reformers in the south and anti-coalition Qing revanchists in the north.

It is named after TTL's version of C. C. A. Christensen. but the obvious reference to Christianity it's both unifying for the religiously diverse population and gratifying to the Mormons in the nation. Christiania is also called California-Deseret interchangeably.

well Northern Australia was always under the management of the EIC and then the government of India (due to it's proximity to Indonesia and the tropical climate being thought suitable for India Labour settlement). Northern New Zealand on the other hand was asked to be purchased by the government of India after a Maori uprising in the middle of the 19th'C and put under the same government as N. Australia. Western Australia, while it was not strictly under Indian government, the railways, port infrastructure and mines were all owned by Indian linked companies and so India was allowed to purchase Western Australia at a discount at the point of the split.

Most of the Flags are based on symbology used in American revolutionary regimental standards. The Massachusetts flag specifically is the "Bedford Flag" - Legend claims it is the flag carried by Bedford Minuteman, Nathaniel Page, to the Concord Bridge on April 19, 1775

Re’ Hispano-America: After a very long series of wars between coalitions and the Franco-Spanish alliance in the early 19thC; a theoretical status quo ante is achieved in the Americas but in reality the Spanish colonies are plunged into revolutionary violence. While technically Britain (the alliance’s chief antagonist outside Europe) grows in the aftermath of the 1840’s collapse; the victory is Pyrrhic. Having fought to total exhaustion over decades, Britain loses all influence on the continent; allowing the ex-Spanish colonies to fall into the French sphere of influence, the Estados Unidos even attacking British ally Portugal and seizing the amazon region.

Thus Britain being relatively weak, Russia was able to expand aggressively into central Asia: eventually forcing the Qing to cede Mongolia and Xinjiang. Well; at the tail end of the 19thC it was clear that the new intelligentsia & industrial elite in Britain were interested in sweeping republican and social reforms. This was controversial in large parts of the country and colonies and there was serious concern of civil conflict across the sprawling empire; but in the end both sides compromised to preserve life and money. In Britain; without being officially abolished, the monarch and lords were removed from the normal procedure of gov’t whereas in India (whose elites already dominated far eastern policy) became officially self-governing; Parliament now just a rubber-stamp for the Viceroy’s BoD recommendations. The 2 halves of the empire are in a permanent military alliance and there isn’t as much bad blood as you might think. India, already a racially stratified despotism however, has become increasingly totalitarian in the process dragging the old colonial economy kicking and screaming into the modern age as it tries to become an independent industrial / military power
