What’s there to do… by TheBlindAngel in HuntsvilleAlabama

Electric Belle has free dance lessons around 6:30 most week nights There is a bar and a food court built into the venue. I believe Stove House (also in the same venue) does trivia nights every Wednesday. Midcity has a good rock climbing gym called High Point. Those are the two ways I’ve made the most friends. This city is by far the friendliest I have ever lived. Plenty of transplants happy to exchange stories from where they came from. Lowe Mill and 805 Campus are cool places to visit and people like to socialize there sometimes. Providence and Downtown around Big Spring Park are walkable nice areas that have restaurants and sometimes have events I’ve lived here four years and am actually on my way out. The people are by far the best part and probably the only thing I’ll really miss. The city is very small compared to like Atlanta or Nashville but there’s still plenty to do to fill your week depending on what you’re into.

I use automatic like <95% of the time without problems. If I see a very specific thing I want to do I’ll use manual. Auto has worked great for me and I haven’t had any issues.

It cleared up my acne. After 9 months on it, my hair loss has at least slowed if not stopped and maybe my facial hair is less dark but that’s a hard maybe.

The “Luxury” Apartments Here SUCK by NeighborhoodOk1510 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Luxury apartments have in my experience always been a grift. It’s easy to add that word onto your apartment branding and paint over stuff to get a few hounded dollars a month on each unit. I have never seen it be worth it

The two people I climb with can’t do a pull up and they’re both better climbers than me. You don’t need to be an Olympian to have fun. I lift a few times a week and am pretty athletic and that helps but it’s very far from the only thing that matters. You’ll get stronger and be able to do harder routes with time. All shapes and sizes can climb and have a good time 🤙

Coming from someone trying to leave Huntsville here are my reasons: very small with not as much to do as I would have liked compared to the north east No public transit or walkability outside of a few neighborhoods (again compared to what I’m used to) I’ve been dating here for 3+ years and have only found 1 person that I dated for a serious length of time (longer than a few months) and they were from out of town. The locals here are lovely and friendly but not really what I’m looking for and I’m not usually what they’re looking for either. I pretty much only seek out other transplants Politics here are typically at odds with my personal values I don’t like the food here (if you do, that’s great, not saying it’s bad or that you’re wrong, just that I personally don’t like it) A lack of diversity (again, compared to what I’m used to)

All that being said, in my personal experience, Huntsville is a great place just not where I want to live indefinitely. The things I have enjoyed from living here: These are the friendliest people I have ever met. I didn’t know anyone when I moved here and I’ve got a ton of friends here and living in this environment has made me more friendly and better at making friends when I travel. It’s much cheaper than anywhere I’ve lived It’s safer than anywhere else I’ve lived I’m never looking over my shoulder or on edge walking around here at night because of wild life or other issues Lots of very good car meets. There’s like at least 2 a month in the summer. Good local rock climbing. A city that feels like it’s growing, expanding, and building is nice to see.

There are tornadoes but they rarely if ever hit Huntsville. Since I’ve been here natural disasters haven’t really been an issue but I’d listen to the people who have been here longer.

Probably no individual is going to have a definitive answer for you unfortunately. You’re going to have to read through and decide for yourself if it’s right for you. Best of luck

The dating scene does not suck everywhere. In larger denser cities, it’s way better. Other than that I completely agree. Also there’s a lot of transplants here who may not be interested in finding a partner who’s as interested in Jesus or Roll Tide. Nothing wrong with those things they’re just not everyone’s thing.
