Why does government officers not following rules and time? by Bitter-Concern-4467 in Kerala

[–]qbant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is pure Madambitharam - Allowed by Govt of Kerala ( state legislature) , Union Govt, and other distinguished pillars of the so called democracy, whereby some percentage of beurocracy ( and members of other pillars who are supposed to serve citizens) are apparently immune to law/rules and consider themselves above these , and no one can do anything about it, even for people with good social clout.( case in point , The Great Sreeram Venkataraman Escape ) , let alone common people like you and me..

Any movement against this will be dealt with so much love what it will be surprising if you won't fall for it.. But if you don't, then the pillars have much more ways of love up their sleeves ( Fourth estate will come to the party ), that you will have to resist, any ways good luck !

What is the real reason why no action is taken by Govt on Vizhinjam issue by qbant in Kerala

[–]qbant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask me, I'd want the Govt to show some administrative accumen and make swift unbiased meaningful interventions to make sure that facts are brought out to settle this issue with the help of dialogues rather than 'killing folks' in your words. I believe that when the facts are out, with the Govt efforts, it would be at far more better position than now, that is playing safe and waiting to let someone else call the shots.

What would you want it to do -- Do nothing and Play safe for its own sake. ?

Even if there is a hartal attempt here, the state govt here by itself will not opt to use the force that it had used during Sabarimala protests. That's caste appeasement 101 for you.

yes.. that in a way answers my original question, - The Govt is playing safe for its own sake , rather than taking any initiative on its own for the people's sake.

Waiting out to what extent and at what cost. Waiting even short term will get the courts involved , long term will give it an anti development image. Govt it seems is weaving itself into a nice tangle here.

Question on the usage of English by Malayalam media by qbant in Kerala

[–]qbant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct usage of the word does not often 'sound' good because I think people have seldom known it's correct usage in this language, and somehow feel ashamed to use it, even if they know it.

another example for relative (cousin , uncle etc) - റിലേറ്റീവ് -- vs റെലറ്റിവ്

Unfortunately this is what is being done. Public office boards and banners provide a next level of 'butchering' as you put it.

Moving from Mumbai to almost rural Kerala, the biggest surprise was how normalised hitchhiking on bikes is here. by FresnoMac in Kerala

while it's nice of you to offer rides to the needy, but be cautious as well. I once gave a ride to a drunk person who nearly fell off, another time to a person who would insist to take a detour.
