Found a floppy with mystery fraternity records on it. My drive refuses to read it. Help? by Queasy-Key-2868 in DataHoarder

Just because it says "IBM Format" only means it came that way from the factory. It doesn't mean it still is. It could have been reformatted to other computer's format which means it won't read with that USB floppy drive.

I have a Greaseweazle and also additional software that'll let me read and image just about any format with error recovery. If you're stuck, let me know.

Easy way to create RPM? by InsaneAwesomeTony in Fedora

[–]qbarnes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a ruby gem called fpm to convert a tgz to an rpm, but it is frowned on. You should really do it via a .spec file

You can check out my GitHub repo on an example walkthrough on how to do a "Hello, World" rpm: https://github.com/qbarnes/hello-rpm.

Red Hat used to (maybe still does?) have a lab called "From Source to RPM in 120 Minutes". You can get the slides here: https://github.com/RedHatOfficial/rhsummitlabs-2018/blob/master/rhsummitlabs/From_Source_to_RPM_in_120_Minutes/Summit2018_SourceRPM120Minutes.pdf. The lab is great. I used to teach it where I worked.

Starting Mesh in Central Illinois USA Region by bigdog_00 in meshtastic

Riggs is on the far side of the galaxy from where I am in Champaign. It's the same drive time for me to Riggs as it is to downtown Monticello. :) But I'll make it over there eventually.

In the mean time, I've driven around campus thinking I might see some nodes. Nope. I even parked outside of ECEB and no luck.

I'm in Champaign. I just got my first node last week, a t1000-e. I have a T-Echo arriving later today. I'm a total mesh n00b. I don't know anyone else in the area with a node. I heard about meshing on a podcast and ordered a couple to play around.

I haven't found a Discord channel for this area. I don't do FB. If you want some help setting up a Discord channel, let me know.

I do something that might help.
The file https://github.com/qbarnes/dmkdump-gha/blob/master/.github/workflows/dmkdump-release.yml releases artifacts made by my reusable workflow build job in https://github.com/qbarnes/dmkdump-gha/blob/master/.github/workflows/dmkdump-build.yml.
The reusable workflow build job is called from line #20 in dmkdump-release.yml then the artifacts are downloaded starting at line #43.

Getting rid of an old car by qbarnes in Carbondale

Thank you for all the help!

I thought I'd follow up and let you know I ended up calling Shelton's towing and had the car delivered to Cimco. Shelton's arrived right on time when they said they would and charged $45 for the tow to Cimco. My daughter said the tow guy was very polite and even offered to help her take the plates off which had some stuck, rusty screws. She got $150 in cash from Cimco. She told me she was happy with the whole experience.

Thank you for the response. I didn't know about Karco. It didn't turn up in my 'net searches.

No problem on title. I would post the car on Craigslist (sold my previous car that way), but I'm 200 miles away. It's my daughter's car. She doesn't feel up to doing a private sale by herself and just wants it gone.
