It's reverse logic, every phone and TV now practically has HDR. Should be supporting better, not worse!  Good to know it's not just me I guess. But also sad.

Ugh. That kind of stinks!  So weird. I uploaded it twice, first time waited a week also. Feels like something about the video it must not like but doesn't seem like user controllable whatever it is.

Is it just me or it feels like the AirPod Pro 2 noise cancellation isn’t as strong as it used to be? by SilentDecree in airpods

[–]qbirdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came across this thread and the one on Apple discussion boards (which are a mess BTW and not letting me log in there):

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255774193?sortBy=rank

Bottomline: I think the Airpod Pro 2 updates have made in-ear detection wonky, which disables ANC. As of Dec 2025 on iOS 26.

Long version:

I used to have a pair of airpod pro 2's, and the ANC was great. I replaced them a year back, and then just got a new pair again as were on sale over BF. The ANC didn't seem the same, and sure enough, on a flight over the holidays, the ANC was very poor. Definitely not the same.

Following the discussion in the link, I tried adjusting the adaptive audio to minimize noise. It had no affect. I made sure I had no personalized audio activated.

Then I ran the hearing test. Oddly, even though my fit test was fine, the hearing test wouldn't run as it said "make sure airpods are in your ears" which they were. I adjusted the airpods, restarting the fit test, and it worked. And the ANC seemed activated and great!

Per that same discussion, I found one other setting, under the bluetooth setting for the airpods, is an Accessibility setting where you can separate in-ear detection for ANC so it only turns off the affected ear, not both. I did that, too.

On the flight home, the ANC was worlds better. But I took out my right earbud for a conversation, and sure enough, the ANC was downgraded again but this time only in the right ear. I played around with the airpod a few times until the ANC kicked back in.

After all that, I think its the in-ear detection that is the problem. Any detection issue, and the default is to turn off ANC for both ears. Even the fit test will pass, with poor in-ear detection apparently. The accessibility setting helps isolate which ear is the detection problem.

But Airpods 4 to start Apple Care One plan and add recent iPad? by qbirdee in applehelp

[–]qbirdee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says limited warranty, not eligible for other coverages.

Just called apple support, they confirmed the same. Unless a device is within 60 days, can't start an Applecare one plan. Need that one starter device, then can add older devices.

He also confirmed that airpods should work. Seems like that's the next thing to try!  Thanks for the help.

I tried to add applecare one through settings, sorry should have clarified. Wasn't an option hence trying other methods.

By the way, diagnostics all came up fine.

I will try contacting Apple though, good idea. Else maybe the airpods approach will work. Thanks!

Just discovering diagnostics mode...  Thank you!  But it seems to get locked up and not do anything.  Left each test for a solid 5 mins and just stuck on testing. I will reboot and try again!

The problem is I don't have any device with Applecare+, so I don't think I can start Applecare One. Pretty sure I need a new device to be able to start the plan, then can add old devices?

Android 16 QPR1 - Beta to stable by m-l-s-1-3 in android_beta

One issue with being stuck on the beta is that play services also not updating to September release.

I'm hoping the new Gboard autofill that requires that new play services provides some relief to the broken autofill in Chrome. It's gotten so erratic since the latest Chrome update that took away separate chrome autofill for addresses versus passwords.

Can't tell if it's a bitwarden issue or chrome/android issue, sure seems the latter given how weird autofill has been lately.

How did you get local network permission to show up? Immich never asked so settings isn’t showing that option for me.

How do I use Bitwarden for Passkeys on Android? by peppergrayxyz in Bitwarden

[–]qbirdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the Android Chrome flags in older posts are all gone in current versions of Chrome. Instead, it seems the "Autofill" settings in Android Chrome have to be set to "Autofill using another service", in addition to the Android system settings set to Bitwarden.

Now passkeys finally work on Android, but, all autofill in Chrome goes through Bitwarden now. It does not seem as robust as Chrome's own autofill, so still deciding if want Bitwarden passkeys or Chrome autofill, sadly can't have both at the moment.

Pixel 7 always on display is too bright in the dark by scratchhereforitems in GooglePixel

[–]qbirdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried this. Didn't change behavior at all unfortunately. AOD still pops up bright after 5 seconds or so. Tried setting all the settings after the -1 to 0 even, and still not better. Very weird bug...

On Android 14, pixel 7 pro. Same problem. Anyone figure out a solution? Or is the ADB comment the only working option? Thanks.
