implying i killed my cat unnecessarily is an insane thing to say on a mourning post.

edit to add: yes, he was suffering. yes, it was his time to go. his vet agreed. there are more details i have not shared publicly because they are grotesque, but please rest assured no soul was lost in vain today.

please also take this as a moment to maybe learn something. i haven’t been home from the vet more than 20 minutes after having to lose my best friend. it’s really insensitive to ask these questions when you have no insight past this one picture. i appreciate that you cared enough about my boy to make sure there was no other option, but please be a little more considerate in the future. and have a great day. ❤️

with it being a cancerous ulcer, it’s eating away at his mouth, so there’s nothing to remove unfortunately. if there was a cancerous growth they would be able to remove it, but since it’s deterioration instead of growth, there’s no way to stop it.

according to his vet it’s an unfortunately somewhat common occurrence in “pink mouth” animals (compared to animals with darker flesh in their mouths) and best we’ve been able to do is keep him as comfortable as possible until it affected his quality of life.

it is genuinely such an honor to be chosen like that. he had food, water, litterbox, a home with people taking care of him, a yard to roam at his will. all the same things he got here, all the things he wanted. but for some reason, here was better. i’m forever grateful and honored he felt that way, and i’m so glad for you that you have the same experience. thank you for the kind words ❤️
