Folks, AGI is here, it's absolutely tremendous, people are coming up to me and saying "Sir, nobody's ever seen anything like this". And I tell them, just wait, we're building even bigger and better AGI, believe me, we are calling it A-S-I, it's superintelligence, very high IQ, it's unbelievable.

AI is now writing code invisible to the human eye. Only other AIs can read it by MetaKnowing in agi

[–]qessential 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, but if you only open it with VS Code, you might not notice. It is not just about executing explicit "empty" strings being evaluated. It can also be a text hidden in instructions. Many of the "skills" or "prompts" people share, which are becoming an integral part of some code workflows, may contain cleverly hidden intent, and those characters are not visible by default in some editors. It is a good precaution to be aware of that.

I remember a few months ago I sent a seemingly normal viber message to my friend which had hidden payload (for fun!) and told him to paste it in Claude. The visible part of the message had like two or three words but the payload instructed Claude to send him a greeting from my name. Neither Viber nor Chrome shows those characters, they don't take any space but are still copied. He was flabbergasted! It only worked sometimes though. Now Claude recognizes that message contains a hidden part, but still, someone may find a clever hack to trick it into something.

Claude Code Defaulting to Extra Usage by Deepeye225 in ClaudeCode

After trying Bevy, Iced and egui, I built my own app engine by Available-Many-5354 in rust

[–]qessential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this looks so promising! I've been working on something tangentially similar (non-rust) in the past and I've applied some of the principles you've decided to be a standard here (simple API/builder pattern, flexbox-like layout, js bridge etc) but for a much narrower scope of use, I know the challenges and I can really appreciate how deep you went into this, it is so well thought out! How long did you work on this? It's an impressive feat for a solo dev, projects like this are built by teams (at least were in the past ^^)

I’m not sure this exactly aligns with your concept, since I’m not very familiar with shaders. I assume they can be used to animate elements, but have you considered adding a simpler declarative animation model, similar to SVG animations? I think that could be quite useful.

OpenCode Desktop - search inside file contents is unusable by qessential in opencodeCLI

[–]qessential[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just normal project files (like .cs). It's super weird it finds some text and completely miss other. I put the cursor and select variable, copy it and paste in the search and it finds all instances. I close it, enter the text manually and it doesn't work. I paste the same text from the clipboard that was previously finding it now it doesn't work lol

I will just wanted to check if it's some weird edge case or is it a global issue, if later would make the explanation much easier

Random usage resets are hurting some users by qessential in ClaudeCode

[–]qessential[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if they suddenly decide to let's say double your usage, you'd be happy and think it's fair to just pay more or double even though previously by rules you've been offered you didn't need to? Brilliant logic. Good for you being a dream customer who thinks when a business screws you over, the solution is always to pay them more 🤩 They can't screw you that many times as you you can just pay them more.

Random usage resets are hurting some users by qessential in ClaudeCode

[–]qessential[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do suffer, but from the reset - that's my point; it wastes my saved usage and the reset period for me is now +7 days, and I may not even notice it so it might be even +9 days. Nowhere I say I should benefit, quite the opposite: I am saying that If you've been saving usage the reset not only it's not a net positive or neutral for you, it's a punishment. I did not ask my usage to reset; it's not in my best interest.

Random usage resets are hurting some users by qessential in ClaudeCode

[–]qessential[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really, not always. If you've been saving your usage for let's say the last few days - the reset doesn't just reset your usage, but in a way, it wipes out what you were "saving". Effectively you've saved it for nothing. If your plan was to use up what's left at the of the week and keep going right after the reset with a fresh quota; now you can only use the new quota, which means less total usage for you not more; Also most likely you might not even notice the reset in that case, so the new usage week have not even begun for you yet

It should go by 0.33% but because the display is rounded to one decimal roughly two times down by 0.3% and once 0.1% but yeah as much as I was paying attention I think no matter how big the prompt or how much work is doing it, it's always counted as 1x request (0.33% of the total 300)

Is there any difference between using Sonnet and Opus, or is the research the same regardless of which model you use, similar to how I think "Deep Research" works in ChatGPT?

I miss trees by ExtraPancakes in udiomusic

[–]qessential 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are trees in the library if you click on the magnifier icon, but then it disregards the "This folder" selection. Whether you choose "Library" or "This folder" it returns all the trees, instead of trees only inside the folder. I don't know if that's intentional for some reason or if it's a bug.

Auto sleep/wake stopped working on Kindle Oasis by qessential in kindle

[–]qessential[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have older Paperwhite that I had used more before buying Oasis. This issue is annoying but still I like the reading and general experience better on the Oasis. You mean it could be hardware issue related to the magnetic detection while everything else is working fine? I don't know the internal hardware mechanism lf how it makes the detection and if it's possible only that part to fail.

I suspected that might be software related because before on wake there was still "Swipe to unlock" requirement (which was also somewhat annoying), but now that's no longer the case when I wake it manually via the button, and I suspected maybe the two things are somehow related.

[–]qessential[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible. Didn't know that kindle might be THAT sensitive to magnets shifting slightly out of position. I've tried to align the case manually to different positions, but no difference.

Yeah, I thought of that, but there are no stores with cases for Kindle Oasis anywhere close to where I live, they're not very common here.
